KJ's Market — Local services in Florence

This place has a better selection and lower prices than other IGA stores 8n the area, but they need to open more lanes. I had 3 items, and the lady behind me had 5. The family in front of me had a few more items, but we all had to wait for someone with a full buggy. The management should anticipate this situation and have a lane ready to open when a large purchase or two will take up the only two opens lanes. I also think that they should consider singles. Not every shopper is buying for a family or a couple. The stores concentrate on family pa ke fir discounts, couple servings sizes are more expensive and singles are left to ask for smaller cuts 9f meat at higher prices per pound. This is true of all of these stores. This one will cut to order and has fresh meats and fish that is preciously frozen. The sele tion is better than stores in smaller areas and the prices are slightly better. The staff is very helpful. Trying to get a job here is extremely difficult if you are educated or an adult. They only hire inexperienced teenagers. That is good in a way, that they give first job experience, but it hurts graduates and homeless or soon to be homeless as they keep the opportunity away from those who may need it more than a teen who still has support of their parents. If I could leave a zero star review, I would. I have been living in hell since one of the employees in this store decided they know more about my life than I do. If you shop here, expect the employees to run their mouths about you, even if you don't know anyone that works here, they will run their mouth about other's lives that they know nothing of.... As well as make accusations/ judgements that you're on drugs... Even if they don't know you... I feel like they are opening themselves up for a lawsuit if their employees slander others while at work!! I used to enjoy shopping at this location, but I think big mart usa will get my money from now on! I really don't appreciate mine or my family's names being run through the mud from someone that doesn't even know us and we sure don't know them either! This location does have very friendly employees in every area of the store except for the deli. I had the displeasure of dealing with 2 very rude employees in the deli department. I asked a question about purchasing an item from their hot bar. I was told, "yes we do that but we charge by the pound. I told her this was fine and again I asked for what I wanted. I was then handed the item and started to walk away with my cart to finish shopping where she yelled at me to come back and pay for it right there at the deli counter. Seriously??? I'm walking around with $30 of steamed shrimp but they're going to stop me from walking away with $5 worth of macaroni and cheese. I'm not sure what's up with that but I'll never purchase anything from their deli again. All other departments are awesome. Love the seafood department and always very polite.
