This is a very well maintained course that proves to be challenging and fun. It’s one of the better public courses that we have played in the area. With that being said, there was some disappointing things that we experienced while playing here. Our group of four practiced at the range prior to the round, and ended up checking in with the starter 5 minutes prior to our tee time. The starter seemed to push us off the tee in a hurry as if we were already behind, mentioning that the other group was already on the green (despite being early for our tee time). We then played roughly 4-5 holes before we had personnel on a golf cart come out and tell us that we were playing too slow and that the we needed to catch up. As I understand pace of play, we are a group of four competent golfers, playing a scramble, and rarely did we see a group behind us waiting to tee off. We then continued to play as varying personnel monitored us in carts to make sure we were playing quick enough. At multiple moments we were jogging to our balls in order to avoid being reprimanded by the staff. We even skipped getting drinks or food at the turn in order to “keep up”. We ended up playing 18 holes in just under 3 hours and 30 minutes (a more than respectable time for 4 people). All in all it was a fun course, but we never got to enjoy it due to unrealistic expectations of pace of play. For such an expensive course, it felt like we weren’t able to enjoy the round and we left...
Read moreWe’ve been playing here for 5-6 years and up until this year I would’ve rated it 5 stars. The course has a great layout with many tee options for all levels (7,700 yds from the back). There were some red flags when we arrived: medium rough length grass on the practice range, holes on the practice green which likely haven’t been moved this year, wide open tee sheet for the next day…. When on the course we could see they are clearly spending money on it. Brand new cart path through entire 18 holes, a few new tee boxes, new tee signs, and other minor changes. On the course: fairways and tees in good shape but cut long, or not cut at all. The reason for the 3 star rating is the greens. They appear to be in the process of losing them. Most have only a few pin locations available because of the dead areas. They’ve put in a few plugs here and there trying to fix them but the dead areas are likely more square footage than they have in the sod farm…. We didn’t ask about the plan for recovery but we’re hoping they can bring it back. Reminds me of Regatta Bay down the road several years back before they had to completely replace their greens. Last comment: with greens in this condition we wouldn’t normally expect to pay full price. We will try...
Read moreI want to preface this with I don’t leave reviews. So take that into consideration when you’re reading this. My husband and I traveled to Florida for his 50th bday. Two days prior to his bday, I called windswept dunes and asked if on his bday they would allow a single to go off without a partner, and if I could just ride with him. Even offered to pay for two even though I don’t play. The person on the phone confirmed they could but only at 11:52. So after confirming multiple times he would play alone I booked the tee time. Day of we drive 45 mins from our condo to get checked in. Once at the counter they informed us he was paired with, not only another single but also another twosome. We asked politely if this could be changed since we had called and confirmed and were told the only way he could play by himself was if we came super early or late. I reiterated that THEY gave us the time after specifying our request.
I’m not upset they couldn’t accommodate us. It’s busy and a holiday week. I am upset that after confirming multiples time and being reassured they could make it happen that my husband didn’t get his only request on his 50th bday and they wasted 1:30 of our time. If you don’t honor your word then this establishment is not one I would...
