Disappointing business practices lately. I’ve been a member for a couple years at this course and although it is very busy at times have always liked the family friendly atmosphere. I always play as a single since my schedule is not very predictable. Last few times I have played I noticed that the only time they could get me on was during the higher price time or very late. Seemed suspicious but understand most probably book during the cheaper time. Today went to play nine and took my 7 yr old with me because we enjoy spending time together on the course. Went at noon and was told they could get me on at 12:52p. I said since that is just before 1pm can I tee off then because that few minutes saves me 10 dollars. I was told that the next open time wouldn’t be until 2:50pm if I didn’t take the 12:52p time. I agreed to take the 12:52p time and then was told I had to pay an extra $25 for my 7 year old to ride with me. He has rode with me many times without ever being charged. I was told they are very busy and short carts. At the thought of now having to pay a total of $41 to play nine when I was expecting to pay $6 I decided to not play and just chip and putt. I couldn’t help but notice approximately 20 carts lined up and sitting, so obviously not a cart shortage. I was on the putting green at 1pm when I noticed a twosome go off the first tee, there was a long gap in tee times then I saw a single go off and then another gap before another single went off. Obviously they were not very busy after 1pm when the price dropped for PLP members and I could have been paired with either of the singles or tees off in one of the gaps. I have always enjoyed this course and the people but the obvious questionable business practices to get more money is very disappointing. I understand if prices need to be increased, but don’t lie just to get extra money...
Read moreToday’s experience at the course was one of the worse in playing golf for the last fifty years as the greens were almost not puttable. The greens had been sanded. But a more accurate term would be that they had been graveled. The gravel ranged from pee gravel the size of bb’s to rocks up to half inch in diameter. On average beyond sand would have to transverse 6-8 of these sizeable gravel particles on a 10 foot attempt. This was not the bad part. I collected pee gravel/ rocks between me and the hole on five holes and it filled my pocket. On hole 9 the course Marshall came by and we advised the green condition. He asked were you guys advised the greens had been sanded when you checked it? I responded no. Also gave him the large pee gravel and rocks from my pocket and asked he advise management of this. He said he would. The Marshall came by five holes latter chatting but never suggesting he had talk to anyone . So I collected rocks and large pee gravel on my last four holes to show club house. This is where the experience took a real turn for the worst. I asked the gentlemen behind the counter if there was a manager on duty. He asked why. I placed the pile of gravel/stones on the counter. While they were collecting the manager. The guy who checked me in took a picture the pile of gravel . A picture of his face would say it all. The manager basically said with reference to telling clients about the greens being “sanded”, that greens keepers do not typically tell them when they are sanding the greens. And with regards to the gravel he said he would talk to the greens keepers ..but after the third time he used the word “if this happened “ , I decided to turn and leave. BRIDLEWOOD is generally one of my most highly favored courses. Today’s experience brought it to a whole different light and will likely be an awhile...
Read moreNo cart credit if you choose to walk? My friend and I played Bridlewood GC this morning and this was the first time we chose to walk. Checked in and told him I was walking, he gave me the price for playing with a cart. I told him again I was walking and he said its the same price for riding or walking. Who does that? Bridlewood GC does! I have never run across this before in the 50 yrs I've been playing golf. If Bridlewood is doing this to discourage walkers because you think they think hold up play, my walking partner and I waited at 15 out of 18 tee boxes for the group ahead of us to clear. This will definitely reduce how often I'll play at Bridewood. I can drive a couple of miles down the road and play two rounds for what Bridlewood chooses to charge a walker to play one round. That's a shame because someone who is choosing to play the game the way it was designed to be played and get some exercise as well, shouldn't be charged the same as someone who chooses to ride. A walker frees up a cart for other players as well, which is always a problem at Bridlewood. Particularly for the 5somes with 3 carts that Bridlewood likes to let play in the middle of the day which was the situation today. Met that group at the clubhouse when we were walking off and they were making the turn, scrambling to find a bathroom because Bridlewood will not open the bathroom on the west end of the clubhouse so they can get more traffic by the restaurant. Which slows up play even more. Management is making some poor choices. Coo-do's to the Superintendent and maintenance crew though, course is in...
