Played on 8/12 with a 7:10am tee time. Had played here once last year and the course was in decent shape, but what a difference a year makes. The good: -great layout with lots of slope and some elevation changes. Hole replicas are fun, and overall a challenging round of golf. -greens on the whole are in good shape, a bit slow, but with the heat they have to keep them long to prevent them from drying out and dying. -friendly course staff, and food included at the turn the bad: -the course overall is in awful, awful, awful shape. Tee boxes, fairways, even the driving range is in worse shape than the cheapest muni horse farm. Im not even exaggerating. There’s no grass tee to Green. The fairways are completely dead. I get it, it’s been hot and the focus has been on keeping the greens alive. But for $135 a player, the conditions are unacceptable. -old carts with no GPS, no ball cleaners, or other amenities you’d expect at a courses with similar price tags. -bunkers in poor condition, some over filled, some with almost no sand. I’m sure management recognizes that there’s work to do, and it’s unfortunate that some of it is beyond their control, but charging a premium for the course in its current condition is unfair to their players. If you’re thinking about playing here, give it at least 2-3 months for the course to recover, at minimum.

Great golf course, very challenging. Had an awesome time trying to be a tour professional. Staff was very welcoming and very helpful. Highly recommend

July 2023 update. Course is not up to par; seems like the ground’s crew staff is doing the best they can but ownership needs to make some serious investments if they want to be a premium course. Played a lot like a dry muni course. Miles of cracked concrete cart paths, dirt patches in the middle of the fairway and poor condition tee boxes. We paid $115 for a Friday morning round; I’d guesstimate it being worth maybe $69. We’ll give it another year before we try it again - we’re somewhat local and rooting for these guys. 2022: They are showing nice signs of improvement and investment. Fairways much improved this year. The pace of play was bad for our sat 10AM tee time. A few groups slowed the course down - we drove ahead on 11, ready to quit and found smooth sailing on 14-18 and finished a few holes in peace. Front side marshal(s) was incompetent at best (I know these guys aren’t well paid and do it for free golf - but dam). We won’t rush back there but we’ll keep them in mind - we just caught an unlucky break with our time.

18Aug2014: I'm not sure what this Steve S. character saw last week but those greens would not have changed that much. If you were there to enjoy the scenery, houses and trees, then you did go to the right place. I went to play golf and that was not what I expected from this course. Atrocious!

15Aug2014: This is our second time playing here. This is by far one of the most disappointing golf trips I've ever had. We drove 3 hrs to get here after scheduling our trip for over a month. Luckily, we had the special fees ($52) and there were 8 of us.4 of the guys never played there before and we were eager to show them the course. Unfortunately, not one of the staff members warned us of the condition of the course until we got to the starter. I should have known something was array when I saw the condition of the practice putting green (horrendous). One of the other patrons had to go up to the shop to let them know that there were no practice balls on the range.

2 of the greens were unplayable and that's the nicest way I can say it. The rest of the greens had so much sand on it that we were a little bemused as why the sand when they were aerating on Monday 18Aug2014. Anyways, this was a complete waste of time and money and I can't believe they were still charging for the full rates on such a subpar course. I was still impressed the first time we went even though they didn't tell us they had aerated the week before scheduling our teetimes. So I was really looking forward to this and left with utter disappointment. Thanks a lot...

I played Tour 18 yesterday morning 8/28/11 for the first time in 5 years. We drove out there because we were told over the phone the course was in great shape and we would recieve a "reduced" fee for aerified greens, punched the previous Monday. Putting surfaces there should be the least of any golfers concern at Tour 18 because they are the only thing green out there. This course in its current state is not worth $30 which is not an exaggeration and we paid double that for a reduced rate. The tee boxes and fairways are in horrible shape. Tee boxes appeared to have suffocated and were not going to recover while dirt fairways meant we had to roll our balls to find a dead patch of brown grass to hit off of. We were 100% disappointed and 3 holes into our round wished we had saved ourselves the $ and drive. Not only that but the course was backed up by the 3rd hole with 3 groups alone on that hole. I have played bad courses in DFW in their worst shape(s) and this is right at the top. To try to charge the $$$ green fees out there in its current state is almost criminal. People should be made aware of the when calling or arriving. There are so many nicer cheaper DFW courses to go play right now. It cannot be blamed on heat either because courses like Texas Star are cheaper and in the best shape I have ever seen in the same hot conditions. Save your $ and...
