We decided to do the lost coast with my dad who is 70 and my little girl who is 7. What an awesome trip. Lost Coast Adventure Tours picked us up in Shelter Cove and drove us to the trail head. Service was spot on. Guy who drove us was nice, told us information regarding the towns and areas we drove through and made sure we got where we needed to go. We arranged a custom shuttle from Arcata to the trailhead at Mattole and then from Black Sands back up to Arcata. Our driver, Conor, was wonderful....full of advice, knowledge of local lore, and humor. At first we had considered renting cars and driving to the Mattole trailhead ourselves, but after experiencing those narrow, winding, ascending/descending roads it turns out using the shuttle was one of the best decisions we made...
