I must be going to a different store than everyone else! Maybe I live in a different dimension? The folks at Jax are EXTREMELY helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. When my husband and I moved here two years ago wanting to raise chickens, nowhere in town could we find organic chick feed or organic layer feed. The folks at Jax had no idea where to find it either, but they scoured the internet for us and found varieties they could get. Not ONLY did they special order it for us, but they added it to their regular order list so it is always there for us when we come in. (Good luck getting some of the other businesses in town to do something so helpful!)
We have now been going to Jax for over two years for organic chicken feed, ordering hard to find chicks/turkeys/etc, all natural dog food, odds and ends for around the house/yard/coop, a lawnmower, charcoal for the grill, etc, etc, etc. We've bought lamps for our chicks, fencing materials, they special ordered boots in my husbands size since no one carries them... They've always been incredibly helpful and wonderful people to deal with. Julie just moved away, but she was always there to answer any of our questions and direct us to what we needed. Heck, I have her as a friend on FB now! I've never run into a rude person in my whole time going there! Their prices are pretty reasonable from what I've seen, and since we live in Laporte, they are also very close by! We don't even have to drive into town. My opinion? Forget these other reviewers! If you live in Laporte like we do, Jax is the best place to go.
And for those who've posted that the folks at Jax are rude: Maybe you ought to look at yourself. Sure, the folks at Home Depot or ACE will let you come in acting like you own the place (probably because just about anyone can work there and you probably DO know more than them), but the folks at Jax aren't just going to sit there while you act like a jerk. I haven't met a single person working at Jax who doesn't actually live the lifestyle that would have them working at a feed store. They know their products, they know their animals, and if you come in acting holier than thou, you deserve a kick in the butt. The folks at Jax are good, intelligent people. I highly doubt they would be rude to you if you...

A few weeks ago, I wrote a review on the poor service I had received at JAX Ranch and Home in Fort Collins. I vowed I would never return and quite frankly, was rather sad because I love shopping at both stores in town. A day or two later, I received a call from Jim Quinlan, the CEO of JAX. Wow, was I surprised. (Never thought anything would come of the review). However, Jim was genuinely interested in learning what had happened and apologized for the poor service and assured me the mishap would be addressed. Additionally, he expressed two or three times his desire to win back my business…well, he did. I stopped in today, spoke with the manager and making plan to buy my round pen panels in the very near future. So, JAX gets 5 stars from me. Often, loyalty is won by overcoming conflict!
Terrible experience. Staff are unfriendly and not very accommodating. Had planned on buying 15 corral panels...valued at around $1500. One panel was defective and they offered me 5% off on that one panel. A whopping $10! I walked out and bought at their competitors. They have lost my business for life. I spend approx $5000 year at ranch stores. Oh well....
Read moreFarm and ranch and don't even carry a primer bulb. Lawn tractors chainsaws weed wackers small farm tractors lawn mowers backpack blowers and all things of that nature use a primer bulb. So why would you not have more than one small pack of some varying size primer bulbs?. Let alone have a complete primer bulb assembly in other words from where it connects to the fuel lines to the little rubber deal you push everything in between all brand new. Cuz a lot of these new machines won't allow you to just replace the bulb you could replace the whole piece. You would think of firming ranch stamped on the sign in front of the store.. this is farm and ranch store supposedly.. I was quite disappointed not to mention that the staff follows you around like they're expecting you to steal something or they just got enough money and employees they can pay people to follow other people around cuz that always makes for a wonderful shopping experience and the level of comfort just shy of sitting in a solitary confinement. And then the other part of the staff don't know their store to save their life they couldn't tell you what's in aisle four. Quite disappointed ..won't recommend that to anybody ever again. no I can't say that because the Jack Daniel's ice cream is pretty damn good. I recommend go into the ice cream...
