A fantastic place. we stepped in for a quick mooch and photo opp. and ended up staying for over an hour talking to the young Navajo manning the post. He wilfully explained to us his Navajo culture, their history and beliefs and introduced us to the spirits surrounding the culture. Yes he was trying to make a sale (he succeeded) but it wasn't 'tourist-y' in the sense that it wasn't exploiting the tribe, it's a family business that's been running since the 50's. the young man wasn't a public speaker, nor was he reciting a speech or rehearsed lines, it was a genuine conversation with an every day person and it was fascinating. And she sold it to me for half the asking price. Elsie is so sweet she helped me get the necklace on and off. She made me feel like my life mattered.
