A fantastic place. we stepped in for a quick mooch and photo opp. and ended up staying for over an hour talking to the young Navajo manning the post. He wilfully explained to us his Navajo culture, their history and beliefs and introduced us to the spirits surrounding the culture. Yes he was trying to make a sale (he succeeded) but it wasn't 'tourist-y' in the sense that it wasn't exploiting the tribe, it's a family business that's been running since the 50's. the young man wasn't a public speaker, nor was he reciting a speech or rehearsed lines, it was a genuine conversation with an every day person and it was fascinating. I had a most wonderful experience with Elsie YELLOWHORSE at her shop. I brought my 925 silver chain in and asked if she could help me find a pendant. She helped me find the perfect fit. And she sold it to me for half the asking price. Elsie is so sweet she helped me get the necklace on and off. She made me feel like my life mattered. This spot is incredible, the gentleman we spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and our interest in his beautiful culture was accepted with open arms, we enjoyed hearing the meanings behind each piece in the shop and ended up buying so many incredible items.
