We highly recommend choosing Northern Lights Resort & Outfitting for your next vacation. Beautiful setting and clean cabins with excellent, friendly service by all of the staff. They consistently went the extra mile to help our stay be the best! From providing helpful tourist tips, to scheduled youth and family activities, to providing an ingredient in a dish I had planned to bake so that I didn't have to run to the store was really nice.

I lived on a lake while growing up in Minnesota and wanted my kids to experience the land of 10,000 lakes too! Our family of 4 road tripped form Indiana to Minnesota and it's very doable in one day. We chose to stop in Madison, WI on Friday night prior, to explore the Farmer's Market Saturday morning and get fresh produce for our week of vacation at the lake! On the way home we did it in one day without any problem.

We had an amazing 2 bedroom cabin, called the Muskie Lodge, that was a stone's throw from the water's edge and breath taking views of Lake Kabetogama and Voyageurs National Park woodland waterways. Our spacious cabin had all the comforts of home and was fully equipped. We spent a lot of time on the great deck in between outings and in the evenings our fire ring couldn't be topped! My daughter really enjoyed reading her book in our private hammock between times of romping and swimming with the other kids out on the sand beach and floating water park.

The resort has really nice boats to rent and for FREE for guests to use ( canoes, kayaks, paddle boards etc.). We did rent the Leisure Kraft Pontoon to do a day trip up to the Historic Kettle Falls and had a really nice meal and enjoyed fishing too. My husband and daughter have a new shared passion in fishing and couldn't be more pleased. It was the first time our daughter had been out fishing and we thought it would be bonding time for father & son! On the trip home we stopped by at Ellsworth rock garden on the Kabetogama peninsula, only accessible by boat, and highly recommended to put on your bucket list.

We were amazed by the amount of wildlife that we saw during the week. The most inspiring were watching the flight of the majestic eagle and listening to the call of the loon.

Our entire family believes we couldn't have found a better cabin to rent in a more beautiful spot and we highly recommend it to everyone. With all the activities, the kids loved it so much they didn't want to leave! We're already planning our next trip back and hoping to make it an...

The BEST lake resort for families. It's located in a cove away from lake traffic with amazing water toys and sandy beach. You start your week with a brat dinner provided by the resort which gave the guests opportunity to mingle. The cabins are clean and provide all the amenities you need! We stayed in the Carribou cabin for the 2nd time and we enjoyed the newly remodeled bathrooms and screenroom addition. We are regular guests up at this lake and have stayed at other resorts and this is by far the most family friendly resort. My boys enjoyed the water trampoline and inflatables which kept them on the lake and occupied the. whole. day.! The location is the best on the lake. Located in a cove my boys were able to safely use paddle boards and paddle boats on their own away from traffic while we watched from the dock. Boats and equipment were in great working condition! They also employ wonderful and hard working staff. They were ALWAYS waiting on dock to assist in docking our boat and they do a spectacular job cleaning the fish! One of the dock boys (wish I remembered his name 🤦) went diving around the dock to look for a guests sun glasses that had dropped into the water! One other thing they did that really impressed me was when my son wanted to fish in the cove with the paddle boat and he needed an anchor. The dock boys looked and all the anchors were being used, so they MADE an anchor for him! I mean, come on! Where are you going to go where you have people that go that far for you! That staff just went above and beyond to ensure our stay was amazing! Thanks Northern Lights! We are looking forward to our next...

To stay at Northern Lights Resort is an experience everyone should try once, and if your family is like ours we bet it will turn into a repeat visit! We stayed at the Bear Lodge, it was wonderful lakeside cabin with a screen porch and very well equipped. We haven’t slept that good in a long time. ||||The Voyageurs lake area area was experiencing a flood this spring, something no one had anticipated. To see the staff working, carrying sandbags to save docks and buildings and still providing top of the line service for the guests that were staying in the cabins was truly inspiring and very appreciated.|||| Tracy kept a "can do" positive face of the business while the entire time she continued to work from daylight well into dark to do damage control on the property. She never gave up, she built a game plan, doing the best for the guests services while holding flood waters back. ||||When the waters receded she put on a concert with her dear friend and musician Mark Joseph, from what I hear it’s not his first trip nor will it be the last. The cabins are now all running to capacity with lots of fish coming in to make the nightly fish fries a success. In addition to nice cabin and boat rentals, they even clean your fish for you! ||||We plan to return hopefully soon to soak up the 5 Star hospitality this Resort offers and the unparalleled privacy and beauty in the heart of Voyageurs National Park on Lake Kabetogama.||||Thanks for a great time Tracy and Steve! We plan to be back again and already making plans to do...

I treated my husband to a week here for our anniversary. It was our first time to MN. We stayed in the Bass Cabin. I had had a hard time finding a 1 bedroom cabin with other resorts nearby and so that is how we settled on NLRO, because they did have a 1 bedroom option. The Bass was the perfect size for us (2 adults, no kids). I wouldn't recommend getting this cabin if you have a party of 2 couples (you'd have to share the 1 bathroom). We had a great week out on the water - we don't fish but Steve and Tracy have a great variety of watercraft for you to take out on the lake. They are always around, ready to answer questions or chat. Their staff were very nice - helping us get canoes or bicycles. We went the last week in August - so fewer bugs and fewer kids. Also, we did have a few rainy days - those we spent in the Aurora room, playing board games and ping-pong. Please checkout NLRO - you'll feel like you're staying with friends.

I used Northern Lights for a multi-day canoe rental when camping. I didn't see the cabin interiors but they looked well kept from the driveway. My car was safely parked there during my camping trip. The staff was easy to book with a few months ahead of my trip via phone. The canoe rental pricing was competitive compared to other locations I saw. Their wood bundles cost a bit more than normal Indiana prices, but they're large bundles. Two bundles cost $20 ($10 a pop) and lasted for 6-7 hours of fire today. Most importantly, in the departure prep, they ensured I understood that if anything went wrong - that i could give them a call and they'd come to our campsite to assist as needed. They also offered a map of the lake - I already had one - but it's another example of their service. Overall, I recommend them. If I'm ever in the area for a cabin, I'd start with them.
