Read moreAbsolute slice of experiencing heaven on earth, so2speak. Visited in early Sept of 2020, over the Labor Day wkend. (water flow level: LESS than usual, lower water level and deffn immersible without danger of being swept away, if using common sense, THS! is why it's so incredible to visit this AT this time of year ..-- perfectly "experiencable" water flow, perfect water temp!! ) .. Wanted to stay there for a month, easy! Really not well known spot, relataively speaking, only saw 3 other people in a group there. You can carefully walk in the middle of the so called falls, or even bathe UNDER 1 of 3 rushing "mini waterfalls". Or there is a natural 30-50 foot "natural hot-tub type style rock formation" right in the middle of where the water comes down (falls down) a 20 foot or so elevation change. Bring a towel, (& bathing suit if shy), really no one around wen i was at the falls. Just breathtaking & remarkable. like communing with the earth ! Really!! Park at the Ft Kent municipal airport, its a grass strip hardly used airport, no one there, cross the so called "active runway" (as in non active) and take the well marked and well shorn trail about 3/4 mile (about 1.25 Kms/"clicks") to where the trail ends (Not down to where it descends into the downriver "portage" but to the left of the fork to the so-called "falls", its not actually a waterfall), bring food, water (or iodine purification pellets), change of clothes, towel, spend a good part of the day or more there and just exist in the splendor of luxuriating IN the tumbling water stream !! PUT THIS on your bucket list if UR visiting the Ft KENT, northern Maine area and UR blessed if UR local, being able to experience this "on demand". If UR a private plane pilot, this is one of very few places like this on earth where you can literally fly in, land, WALK rt to this area, spend a good amount of time there, walk back and fly out, nothing else needed.. Wait specifically for this time of year to visit & wholly experience this if UR NOT local, its worth the...
