Played in the early afternoon on a Thursday in Feb 2019, was a terrible experience, paid for 18 holes but had to quite after 9 due to terribly slow play. The twosome that played with us quit in frustration after 9 as well. 2 hours and 40 minutes to play 9, on pace for a 5 to 5 1/2 hour round and wouldn't finish before dark. The price and greens are very good and the staff is very nice, but they're completely ineffective in terms of keeping an acceptable pace of play on the course. There are always a lot of bad golfers in the afternoon on a municipal course, so that's to be expected, but even the worst golfers should be able to keep up with the group in front of them with a little help and instruction from the staff of the course. Slow play is not the golfer's fault, it's the fault of the staff for not setting any expectation or monitoring them correctly during play. In this regard the staff today were completely irresponsible. There was not a single mention of pace of play that I could see from the pro shop, starter or any marshal on the course. We waited on virtually every shot, 5+ minutes several times, with two groups waiting on several tees. In addition to poor management of pace of play I believe the course is also were irresponsible for jamming too many players on the course. The starter mentioned there were a lot of players who walked on with no starting times and he managed to squeeze them all in, not sure why we bothered to make a starting time in advance??? The couple we played with on a previous round said they never make a tee time in advance, just walk on and its never a problem squeezing in. We played here once before and it as slow, but not quite this bad, there had to be a group or groups sometime during the day that were holding up all the groups behind them. No golf course should take your money (thankfully not much money in this case) and completely neglect their responsibility to keep a decent pace of play on the course. Some courses can do it well, not this course on this day. Too bad, it could have...
Read moreI had a 9:54a tee time set up for Saturday, I wasn't aware that paying the earlier (more expensive) times allowed for walkers to play as well. Typically, I courses don't allow walkers until later when less golfers are out. However, I was behind a group of 4 with 3 in golf carts and a walker with them, the rate of play was entirely to slow. We would be finished with the hole and pull up to the group in front of us teeing off. I'm not normally one to complain but I called it a day after 3 1/2 hours and only completing 13 holes. I golf frequently and I'm done in between 3 1/2 and 4 hours depending. I called the County Club just to address this issue and the manager on staff was very condescending and rude. I felt as if He felt I was lying and projected that with his feedback. Stating that I'm the first to say anything about the rate of play and that even the rangers didn't report anything. I feel its up to each person to express if they felt it was slow. I golf at Eastwood most of the time and have never had an issue. This was my first and now last time coming here after how this issue was handled. I didn't call for a handout just to give feedback and to be treated as if I'm not being truthful just really blows my mind. Hopefully this manager can be spoke to about...
Read moreI called at 8AM on Sunday. for Tee on Monday and was on hold for just 45 seconds. Pleasant lady answered and I was ready to give name and ask closest time available after nine. Just took 20-30 seconds. The review by someone who said the Pro was unprofessional when he called must have been a wrong number when told the pro said"" sounds good to me and hung up'''.I was told by some members there Rick Lamb has been there many years and is very friendly and would be way out of character to be less than receptive as this is his Bread and butter. I played the course before the new modifications and didn't care for it. The changes are wonderful with the elevated greens ,bunkers and the greens are superb with the type of grass used. The fairways are great to hit off of compared to a lot of Florida courses. I loved it so much I played it again a few days later and liked it even more as I knew it better. I will make this my course of choice next winter. Hope the city brings Eastwood surfaces up to these styles in future, what with its great layout. The food and drinks under the umbrella were good also. The Starter was very nice and accommodating when I went as a single. Thanks for a great golf time. ...
