Akins Furniture Dogtown — Local services in Fort Payne

When I bought my house 7 years ago I went here to furnish my house and had a wonderful experience... we wanted to update our furniture so we made the hour and a half drive to shop around. The experience was far from what we expected based on our previous visit. We walked the entire warehouse and they did not have much available in what we were looking for. I finally tracked down an employee to inquire about a set I was interested in and she was very rushed and answered all of our questions with, "I don't know" and "I'm not sure" followed by staring awkwardly like she wanted to just get back to whatever she was doing before we interrupted her. I asked her to please find someone who could answer my questions. She went and got someone else who had the same attitude and just brushed off our experience as "you get what you get on a Saturday" as if they were busy but there really weren't a ton of people there. We were ready to drop a ton of cash there again the way we did 7 years ago but unfortunately we took our business down the road and had a much better experience. Very pricey, was my original review, the owner felt it necessary to comment putting down his competition stating they have higher prices and lower quality when you can purchase the same exact thing elsewhere and have them deliver exactly what you order. Having read numerous other reviews on wrong furniture and damaged furniture being delivered I definitely do not recommend this place the pennies more you would pay elsewhere is well worth getting your furniture delivered to you promptly and correctly without being damaged. I guess they thought I was under educated and did not know how to look around on my own. They felt it "necessary"to approach me three different times within a hundred feet of entering the store asking me if I needed help i.e. pushing a sale. I can only imagine the fertilizer this review will receive. Some of the furniture for sale was stuff purchased for condominiums along the Gulf Coast 10 to 15 years ago. When arriving at the store I was met by no one. I was simply coming to pick up furniture that I had purchased a week before. When I got to the loading dock one of the loaders had an attitude with me. As if I was a bother to him. Then he went into the back office with such an attitude. He then informed me that he was waiting for the other person to bring the second item we purchased. He did not speak nor acknowledge we were customers. The gentlemen that I first encountered had an attitude change but only because he dealt with the preson I brought with me. I no longer was spoken to. On top of all that grievous disrespect I received our furniture was loaded in a manner that seemed like they were in a hurry to get rid of us. When we said we had more furniture this gentlemen acted as if that was an inconvenience. We have spent a lot of money as this company to be disrespected in such a manner as we were is not appreciated nor is it professional.
