This was a DREAM COME TRUE! Riding horseback on the beach is a pretty awesome idea, but I didn't know it could be so perfect. My boyfriend, Bill, surprised me with a personal ride on the morning of my birthday and when we arrived Tammy and Rachel met us at the beach entrance. They were so welcoming and took time to figure out the perfect horses for us. I asked a bunch of questions because I was so excited and they were so fun to talk to. I ended up riding Gypsy, a gorgeous and sweet palomino, and Bill rode R.D. who was a gentle, handsome guy. Rachel was our FANTASTIC guide and rode Tammy's gorgeous paint, Tuck. Rachel and Tammy took the time to pair us with horses that would be good together, as well as good for us as riders--I have ridden my whole life, but Bill hadn't in many years, so it was reassuring to know that we would be put with horses that would be great for beginners. As we talked I learned that they rescue horses and knowing that filled my heart with happiness! So, we set off on our private ride, Rachel, Bill, me, our horses and the gorgeous beach. Rachel took my phone and took pictures of us riding the whole time, which I didn't expect and was great! We got to the halfway point and Bill got off to stretch his legs. They told me to get off to take more pictures, but I didn't want to because I was having SO MUCH FUN. But I got off and Bill wanted to go take a picture up the beach a little bit more. Turns out...He had set up the most magical, thoughtful, AMAZING proposal and he asked me to marry him! (I said YES!) He had been working with Rachel and Tammy, planning this for weeks and they were so GREAT! I had NO idea and was totally overwhelmed and so happy. (I still am!) Rachel and Tammy totally kept the secret--I even asked him if Rachel knew this was going to happen because she didn't give any hints or anything! We rode back down the beach after all the excitement and I don't think I've ever been happier! I LOVE these girls and their horses and I TOTALLY recommend them to ANYONE--experienced rider or first time, they make the experience perfect. (Even if you're not getting engaged!) I can't wait to go back for another ride--and to say thank...
Read moreI always wanted to ride a horse on a beach- on my bucket list! (Also, to conquer a fear the one time I tried horseback riding and was put on an aggressive horse that almost went off of a ravine.) I went this past Monday to Tours On Horseback. I ended up on a horse named "Possum" and was a bit apprehensive at first because Possum likes to eat grass and kept going towards the field. Possum finally got with the program when we started towards the beach- we ended up being the lead horse/rider. I had the best time! The horses know exactly where to go and it was a lovely walk/ trot on the ocean shoreline. Even saw a baby sand shark-cute(no Jaws there -ha). Halfway they stop the horses and set them up and the guides take your picture with your camera. So no trying to sell you photos or anything else. The guides know what they're doing and they were fun and entertaining. They even took care of one girl who is ready to not go on the ride with her family, they paid a lot of attention to her and help her get rid of her fear. I highly recommend trying this - the horses are all gentle - great for kids alike. I can't wait to do it again- although I will go when the weather's a little cooler, but I went on one of the early morning rides and we end up having a little bit of Breeze. Side notes: you can bring the treats for the horses( I brought carrots) they wait till the end of the day and chop them up and give all the horses a treat when they get back home. If you can't make your reservation please call- it's a lot of work to bring the horses and money to take care of the horses and if you don't show and someone else could of filled their spot, they lose that money- that hurts both the business and the horses. It's not even suggested- but I gave a tip for the guides - always appreciated they do a great job! And hey it's $50.00 for a ride it's a great deal.I highly recommend!! Made a great memory! Thanks...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience. It was beautiful and refilled my soul. I am on a respite trip from caring for my disabled son. I was pretty depleted, and the experience made my mama heart very happy. I was able to check "beach ride" off my bucket list before I head back to Texas. The tour guides help you every step of the way from mounting your horse with the assistance of steps, guiding you along the beach in a line up, coaching you on the proper way to seat yourself while going down and up a hill, to dismount with the assistance of steps. The path taken is beautiful and the peace of listening to the waves break on the shore while you ride is amazing. The tour guides will stop along the beach and take photos of you, with your camera, on your horse. Hydrate and use the Port-a-potty restroom before your ride. Sunscreen and possibly a hat will keep you protected on your hour ride. Pants or stretch pants under your shorts will help with any rubbing from the tack (saddling equipment) and sweat from your horse, and closed toed shoes are a must. Though they don't ask for them, I suggest bringing a tip with you because for all the top notch work they do,...
