The Refinishing Shop — Local services in Fort Worth

This was the worst experience we have ever had with a business. I never leave reviews so for me to leave this is to warn others.

We brought in a 20 year old maple table and 4 chairs and a leaf in very good condition. We drove a long distance to bring these in to refinish a darker color. Jimmy assured us he could do the job . We trusted him. He works with his son and has an outdoor shed that they do the work in. We brought in a barstool for him to match our table to. We agreed on a price which was reasonable and a time for the work to be done.

We went to pick up the table and chairs and the first problem was he could not match the color of the barstool. The second problem is he did not put a layer of protection to protect the wood in case we ever wanted to refinish it again. He put no sealer on the table and it scuffed and started peeling the first week we had it. He also took the slides off the bottoms of the chair feet to refinish and did not replace them . He threw some felt pads at me when we left . I gave him extra bolts for the table which he never returned . I assume he lost them . Also the table bolt was broken which he never told us about so we had to get that repaired . His shed was very disorganized and that should have been a red flag .

I called him and sent him pictures and he said he would give our money back then he changed his mind and wanted to try again to redo it and we said no thank you. He is very unprofessional and I would not recommend him. We had to take it and repay a real company to refinish and they said that he had not done it correctly. Was so disappointing to be taken advantage of....

Jim and his son worked on an old cedar chest my dad finished for me about 35 years ago. In moving from CT to TX, one of the legs cracked and another was missing part of a leg/foot. Just had our natural-finished dining set stripped and re-finished to match our antique side-server (which was also stripped and re-finished). Excellent work, and we can now enjoy our old Ethan Allen dining set (along w/ the side-server) for another 30+ years with the great new look.
