I am writing this review to share my experience with the Miranda Rescue. It was with a heavy heart that i had to surrender my German Shepard Kyra, that I raised since she was just 7 weeks old. On or about her 4th birthday, she started becoming more and more aggressive towards all other animals, Cats, small dogs, large dogs etc. One evening out of no where, she full on attacked her best friend Theodore (a small chihuahua), that she had grown up with. Kyra had been socialized as a puppy with other dogs and attended obedience training.
It was after that attack ( Attack to kill) that she could NOT be anywhere around Theodore without trying to kill her. I reached out to all of the German Shepard rescues groups in the Bay area, and was told that i would have to place her in the animal shelter, and then call the rescue group with the kennel number, and then they would be able to rescue her. It took about two months for a spot to open at the shelter. I took her to the shelter and called with the kennel number, I was shocked to now hear we have NO room for her. Even the shelter reached out to the GSR rescue groups in the Bay Area. they were also getting no help. A friend that i work with recommended the Miranda house, so with her help, i pulled Kyra from the animal shelter, and the next day we drove 6 hours to meet Shannon. I was a little skeptical at first, as he seemed stand offish and looked like he was more into his appearance than these animals. BUT, boy was I wrong. He sent updates on Kyra and worked with her to retrain her to be able to co exist with other animals. This was NO easy task. As when i bought her to the rescue, she wanted to eat these animals..... I was shocked to see the transformation. This took a lot of time and dedication.
If it were not for the LOVE & CARE of the Miranda house, there would be no Kyra!!!! I know this sounds horrible, but it is the truth. As we had exhausted all avenues, Full vet work up's, training, muzzles, etc...
I was so excited to hear that Kyra had been adopted, i am so excited for her new journey.....
Thank you to all at the Miranda rescue group for...
Read moreI adopted a dog from Miranda's this week. I am SO impressed with how they handle their animals and their adoption process.
The facility is clean and spacious. They seem to have a very structured process and they CARE about their animals! They were all about doing what's RIGHT for the dog.
I went in looking to add a second husky to my family. They ended up noticing my dog's personality and were able to pair us with a dog that was a good match for her. He wasn't a husky like I was looking for, but the dogs hit it off immediately and he's a great fit for the family (and this family is a good fit for him!).
They helped pair me with the dog that was the right fit for my family, they let me bring my dog in for introductions, and they were VERY accommodating when I kept coming back to visit and calling with questions! They are very patient, compassionate, and caring. They were obviously very busy and yet they never rushed us, they never pushed, and they were always putting the wellness and the happiness of the dogs above all else.
I highly recommend this place! They are a non-profit and it's abundantly clear that they really care about what they do.

Read moreWe were foster parents to an Akita mix rescued from the San Martin shelter. He was an angel in the house, but outside the home he was becoming more and more aggressive, uncontrollably so. After a few close calls we told the rescue we were fostering with we needed a Plan B. We didn't feel comfortable adopting him out to anyone. Shannon and Miranda's rescue was the Plan B we desperately needed. We're confident that Shannon can rehabilitate our aggressive dog Doug Benson (we thought he was resource guarding.....we were wrong he's just aggressive) and find him an appropriate home. We're very appreciative of Shannon and everyone at Miranda's Rescue for providing love, care and training for wayward animals. Don't know what we would have done...
