On Saturday August 31, 2024 my sister, my brother and I went into the Davis County Animal Shelter at 3:30 pm. We went into the cat room&thatâs when the staff introduced us to Myself, a small orange kitten who at the time was very calm and sweet. We instantly fell in love with him, and after playing with him/getting to know him for about an hour, we went to the front and told the staff that weâd like to adopt him into our home. The staff member that talked with us w his adoption was a younger male(20s-30s in age) who had blonde/light brown hair and fair skin. He told us that Myself hadnât been fixed yet and he was due to get surgery on Wednesday(tomorrow). He told us that we would have to wait for him to get done with his surgery before he could come home. We agreed to come back on Thursday. I had cash ready to pay the adoption fee, but he told us that we wouldnât have to pay until we picked him up on Thursday. He promised that they would put Myself on hold for my sister and that nobody else would be able to adopt him. He told my sister that he would approve her adoption application on the spot and weâd finish everything else on Thursday. The staff told us as we were leaving âsee you guys next week! Congratulations on your new kitten.â After we left, we immediately started buying stuff in order to prepare for Myself to come home. Over the weekend, we got his whole room set up with everything he could ever want/need as a kitten. We have been so excited to welcome him home. Well⌠Today my sister got an email saying âsorry, but Myself is no longer up for adoptionâ. We assumed this was a mistake, but my sister decided to drive up to the shelter and ask them whatâs was going on. Upon arrival, they told her that someone else came and picked out Myself and that they had paid for him so he was no longer available. My sister talked to the same staff that helped us out on Saturday and she reminded them that he promised my family that he would be kept on hold. They told her that since she did not pay the adoption fee on Saturday that was never put on hold. She reminded them that we offered to pay the adoption fee and we had cash in hand, but they specifically told us to wait until Thursday so we can finalize everything all at once. They denied that this ever happened. The way the staff handled this situation was extremely unprofessional. They showed no empathy towards my sister when all she wanted was an explanation. They alluded to her being a liar by repeating âthat didnât happenâ and they gave a backhanded apology by saying âsorry YOU misunderstood what we said and what our policy is.â We understand that mistakes/miscommunication happens. However, the way they treated my sister was extremely disappointing. Not only did they blame her for ânot understanding their policyâ but they refused to acknowledge the fact that they told her otherwise about the adoption fee. My dad called to try to figure everything out and they kept asking him âbut were you there?â And when my dad said he wasnât there he got the response âwell this is all based on opinion then not factâ. We got no explanation or any sincere apology for the mistake they made. My sister is very passive-she doesnât cause any problems and she especially isnât the type of person to cause a scene or yell at staff. She tried multiple times to resolve this issue with them but they blatantly ignored her and eventually shooâd her away by handing her the supervisors number. At the end of the day, weâre not upset that they adopted our cat to someone else. What really put a bad taste in our mouth is the way they handled the situation and the way they treated my sister. I really hope they donât treat their animals the same as they treat customers. I would say Davis is a good place to adopt if youâre in and out within a day- but if they try to have you come on a different day, save your time, effort, and a heartbreak by...
Read moreâDid you recently adopt a black cat named Gunther, gray tabby names LA or orange tabby named Trump from Davis county animal shelter?ââŚ
My elderly parents are heartbrokenâŚ
(Please leave a comment of how I can contact you if you have their kitties and are willing to let them adopt them back from you đ˘đ˘)
I need help from the community.
Last summer, my momâs neighbor moved out⌠And left their 3 cats behind.
They would not come around us, and were very nervous when we would try to come near them.
My mom took pity on them and started researching how to take care of cats, bought them food, shelters, and over the last 6 months, earned their trust.
The orange tabby and the gray tabby were intact, and the black we didnât know because we could not get close to him to âfind outâ.
They became great mousers, and my parents really enjoyed their company.
But they needed to be neutered.
My mom found what she was led to believe was a spay and neuter program at the Davis county animal shelter, and was assured the cats would be released back to her. I was there and witnessed her be reassured many times by the individual checking in the cats that they have a note on them that they are to be returned to us and that they are not for adoptionâŚ
They lied to us⌠and we have the individual whom checked in the cats admit she told us they would be returned even when the contract stated we were giving them up admitting on camera that she admitted she told us that when we signed the release formsâŚ
And all we want are our cats back.
My mom didnât realize how attached she was to these âstraysâ and we both feel like we gained their trust, and tried to do the right thing by getting them nurtured, and they informed us today after we have called several times since dropping them, and each time being reassured that they âhad a noteâ that they are not up for adoption, as we kept asking when can we pick them up?
They wonât tell us whom adopted them⌠All we know is the black cat named âGuntherâ is adoptedâŚ
The orange cat Mr T (the said their computer changed his name to Trump, so his name is would have been Trump when he was adopted) is in a foster home awaiting his neuter for adoptionâŚ
And the gray tabby was named LA, also in a foster home waiting for his neuter to be adopted.
If you have our cats, we will pay you your adoption fees.
We feel so deceived and misled by David County animal control and I filmed their supervisor admitting that this was as issue they need to correct on their end⌠what ever that means.
Here are photos of the cats. I know itâs a huge shot in the dark, but if you have them and are willing to let us pay you back your adoption fees to let us have them back âŚ
My elderly parents are heartbroken⌠my mom was sobbing when we left the facility and said she feels like she betrayed them when she just wanted to do the right thing by having them neutered and had their beds and food waiting for them to get homeâŚ
Please help me bring their cats back to them⌠Thank...
Read moreMarch 12, 2024 I felt I should change my harsh review from one to four stars. Animal Care of Davis County reached out to me and offered their help with my brothers dog Bandit. They are currently helping me find him a permanent home. If you are looking for a new companion they have some good candidates to consider adopting. March 5, 2024 Today Animal Care of Davis County called me back from a message I left them on Feb. 29. It took them over 4 days to return a call. I am desperate to get a dog (Bandit) into their or someone's care. My brother and I first brought Bandit to Animal Care of Davis County on February 23, 2024 they refused to allow us to surrender him. We made an appointment with them to return on March 1, 2024 @ 3:15 pm. On February 23, 2024 I filled out the required Rehome Submission form on Animal Care of Davis County's web page. Bandit's information has yet to be posted on the Animal Care of Davis County adoption web page. I took my brother to the hospital on February 29, 2024 he is still there. Because of that I had to cancel our pre-scheduled date to bring Bandit in to Animal Care of Davis County. I am 70 years old. It has been very hard for me to care for my brother, his pets and also very frustrating to deal with Animal Care of Davis County. Today when Animal Care of Davis County finally called me back they told me that now in order for me to be able to bring in my brothers dog Bandit for him, I would need to get a notarized statement from him. I explained to them he is in the hospital and what they are requiring from me is impossible. It would require me to: Find a notary willing to travel with me to the hospital to get a signed notarized statement from my brother. The hospital where my brother is convalescing it takes me 1-2 days in advance to get ME! into visit him all other visitors must first be on a list of approved people. To that they responded yes that is correct I would need to get his signature notarized no options. What Animal Care of Davis County are requiring is impossible. I guess I will continue to try and care for Bandit as best I can from 25 miles away.
March 1 2024. My brothers health has declined so he can't take proper care of his dog. Animal Care of Davis County refuses to help us with the dog. They don't answer their phone. They don't return messages we have left. When we took the dog there to the shelter they refused to help us. They told us to make an appointment and come back in a week and then MAYBE they would help. My brother is in the hospital, I am forced to drive 50 miles round trip daily to give his dog the basics it needs to survive. This is all because Animal Care of Davis County will not help him do the right thing. There is no where else to...
