"The best gas station chocolate pecan pie ever!"
We did not plan to stop here, but I made a terrible calculation and we were going to run out of gas in 5 more miles. The gas was a little bit more costly than elsewhere.
We could not have been happier.
As I waited for the 26 gallon tank to fill, I walked inside to check it out. Unlike just about every other gas station along I-10, local (or at least non-national chain) products took up about 95% of the shelf space. There was a mention of homemade pecan pie, so I got a slice of the chocolate pecan pie, a couple of jars of jam, and some jerky . The jerky, as expected, was very good, as was the jam.
My wife and I immediately knew that buying the pie was a good idea. Incredible. Great crust, great filling, just super well made. We joke about it being "the best gas station chocolate pecan pie we've ever had", when, in fact, if we got it from an expensive bakery, it would still be one of the best pieces we've ever had.
I plan on stopping by the next time...

Was expecting to grab some exotic meat jerky, but the were unfortunately out at the moment. Ended up getting some of their coconut peanut brittle and a slice of pecan pie. The pie was amazing. On my way back home, I stopped by again. They were still out of the exotic jerky, but I bought some bourbon habanero jerky for my dad and a whole pecan pie.
The service was great. I explained that I was gonna be on the road for a while and didn't want the pie to get warm so they offered to give me a frozen pie so it'd make the try. Unfortunately for me, all they had were freshly made pies that day so no frozen ones. So they made some ice bags for me and even offered to put in a box. I was lucky to remember I had an insulated grocery bag in the truck and placed the pecan pie, ice, and bag in the insulated bag. Made it home 4 hours later with a still chilled pie.
Will definitely be stopping by again going to and from Phoenix again...
Read moreWe were heading to New Mexico when I saw the signs, said we definitely have to stop by on our way back. Please keep in mind that I make my own jerky as well. The last sign that I saw said made with brisket, definitely piqued my interest. So on the way back it was getting late but I still wanted to stop. His brisket jerky is undoubtedly the best jerky I have ever tasted in my life and I am pushing 60. They also have dried fruit, nuts, honey, jams and much more. The nice lady that attended to us was extremely knowledgeable on their product and very friendly. Cannot wait to go back there and purchase some more of that absolutely awesome jerky. I would highly recommend this to any jerky lovers, you are definitely in...
