I did this hike with my teenage son. It felt really tough scaling up the mountain. We are not hikers so it was probably more challenging for us. As you go up further, it got steeper. Coming down felt tougher because we slipped a few times. The view was gorgeous though if you can make it up

Very easy hike for most people. Small kids might have to take it slow, but nothing difficult. I started from the YMCA and ran up to the entry trail. It’s not always easy to follow, and I deviated from the trail a few times (I think..) but it was easy to make your way to the top to enjoy the views and the peace. Quick up and down, great for a morning hike. 5ish miles round trip depending on where you are at the YMCA. Probably 2 if you park at...

An un-sung minor peak near RMNP. I started from the East Portal Trailhead and hiked toward Sprague Lake along the south side of Emerald, then found a narrow unmarked trail about a mile from the parking lot that headed up the mountain. The peak appears tree-covered from down below but you actually have incredible views in almost...

Hiking up Emerald Mountain was moderately strenuous, especially if you are not acclimated to the altitude, which may take 2 or 3 days. I am 72 and I made it. It is well worth the effort. Good, well fitted shoes are helpful. And make sure you carry enough water with you. Also use sun screen on...
