Update: 11-17-23 We came here about a month ago and found out the owner had died and they were having a meeting the following Monday to decide if the store would stay open or if it would be closing. I was hoping they Would stay open but it is 10:30am and we just stopped here and the shop is closed. Not sure if that is just today, or forever. 🄺 we mostly came here to buy geodes. On occasion we have found a few other things to buy but most things in the store are pretty expensive. When we first started coming here about 3 years ago the geodes were $1.99. After they reopened from the Covid shut down, they had raised the price for their geodes to $2.99 but it was still a decent deal , so we kept coming. We have stopped here about every 6 weeks to 2 months.

Love coming here. We have purchased a few very unique one of a kind things here. Take note though. Their hours are what they want them to be. Don’t come too early and make sure you get here 2 hours before their listed closing time or you might not get in. We showed up today and they are supposed to be open till 5pm and they closed at 3:40pm. Last time came early, about 8:30 and they weren’t open yet. We ran around town for a couple of hours and came back instead of waiting for someone to show up. Still love this place. It’s just...

...rude Rude RUDE!

Don't bother going inside, especially if you are travelling with small children.

There is a VERY RUDE LADY HERE! Short older lady. (Owner)

The indian village and petrified specimens outside are neat for kids and a great photo op...but...

Our visit:

Our kids are very well behaved and were with us the whole time while we were mostly the only people in the store at the time. She watched them and us like a hawk and a prison guard...with very uncomfortable stares. Then, she told us we were blocking the isle wile looking at some kids toys. * No one else was in store mind you at this time.*

She then asked if we were going to buy any of the toys we were looking at..."uh, well not now," we finally responded, as she threw our change due at us from several drinks that we just purchased.

WOW!

Travel East several miles down the 40, there are much better places with nicer owners and things, more items, much friendlier staff, and restrooms available for...

It has alot of stuff. Most of it isn't authentic, homemade Indian things. Their petrified wood items are, however, and they are truly amazing art. The store is small and cluttered. The outside has teepees, which are made of metal and inside are full of trash and graffiti. The petrified logs out front are interesting. The employees weren't very friendly. Don't expect to be treated like a customer if you have kids, you're watched like you're going to break or steal something. This store is right off I40, and I'm sure they get a whole array of people passing by, but that doesn't excuse rudeness. Also, most of their stuff is way over priced. Especially for generic...

I give an A++ for the merchandise. I give an F- for the Merchant. This store has some very unique and beautifully polished (EXPENSIVE!) petrified rocks, plus a large assortment of unique hand carved items and other nice things. Yes, they do have some of the more commercial type, touristy, trinkets too. So, why the āļø āļø you ask? I never rate more than āļø āļø to merchants that aren’t courteous enough to greet their patrons. Shame on you! Although, the lack of common courtesy could’ve been isolated as they seemed to be greeting others just fine! P.S. there are several old broken down cars in the lot that give the impression that it’s real crowded with customers, but it’s not.

My favorite leather and feather items here hang from the ceiling around the registers. This piece was made by Gaylene Wallie. On my drive from DC to LA, I stopped at about a dozen trading posts. Most of the lower priced trading posts are further east, away from California and the Grand Canyon. This trading post was the last one with prices competitive with ones further east, but with an overall better selection. The prices for their petrified wood is much higher, but theirs is cut and polished and what I found at the other stops is not. For those looking for unpolished petrified wood, there was at least one shop near the petrified wood forest that had them in bulk.
