The Glenrio welcome center, which is located right after you cross the border from Texas to New Mexico is a rest station with lots of brochures and posters about different areas in New Mexico such as national parks, tourist attractions, and ski areas in Taos. The restrooms are relatively well maintained the soap dispensers on the counter don’t have any soaps, but The two soap dispensers on the wall have soap in them. The water is dispensed automatically both for the faucets and for flushing the toilet, the flushing mechanism seems to be somewhat defective because couple of toilets were looking a little problematic. The lady who helped me seemed more interested in my ZIP Code, than giving me information when I asked about the parks to go to, she was able to give me only one name and the two others I had to look up on the website link offered at the rest station and on Google maps to find out about it and then asked her about them; then she had some information that she offered including the fact that there is lots of snow around those two parks but she didn’t initially mention them. The person of the desk was not rude. They were very interested in getting my help which I was only too glad to provide, my name, my zip code, and the number of people in my party, to fulfill some sort of quota for them I suspect.

I'm a big boy, I can take no for an answer and I did.
But was the answer really no? Or did this person just care not to help? They showed not the slightest concern or interest with helping. Not the slightest. Just gladness at saying no.
I saw several outlets outside that would have been very helpful.
At least act like human beings New Mexico. You were certainly Born...
Read moreSTILL closed due to COVID-19 (as of June 21st 2020) yet you can get fast food and enter many non-essential shops here in New Mexico!? Makes no sense for the Welcome Center to be shut down this many months later. This is a respiratory virus and it's proven now that is how it spreads so why not have the welcome center open and simply require masks to enter? Shocking how so many Americans are willing to just surrender their freedoms and follow blindly! "The new normal" ... Can't leave more than a 2 star rating with the welcome center being shut down and the restrooms being VERY filthy! Also, there is ZERO cell phone reception here so if there is an emergency or vehicle issues, you are toast. The outside was nice to check out and there was a nice fenced in dog...
