We own a home locally to Journey Quest, but live out of state. For a number of years our children wanted to go rafting. Our 6yr old boy is really energetic and behaves in the ways many young boys do - jumping first and sizing the ledge only after a successful landing. LOL.
We had called many places the morning we found the Journey Quest folks with a Google search. They had room to squeeze 8 of us in, and we took the plunge. The rapids were a 3 max, so very reasonable for a beginner group.
The rafting was great. All had a great time, but I truly found comfort in the prayer and Christ-like behavior of the guides. There was an emphasis placed on the Lord I rarely see in today's businesses. I truly rested easy because of this, and found myself for more trusting in our guides.
The guides... They were first-rate. They handled my jabbering little boy exceedingly well, and we so very good with him and the children of our group. I wish I were able to offer a rating of more than 5 stars. I'll not search for another service. Journey Quest and their staff are correctly focused and that ethic permeates their offerings. Enjoy your trip with them. We did...
Read moreMy friends and I went white water raft with Journey Quest as part of our "Yay We Graduated College" trip. We went on the 3/4 day trip in Bighorn Sheep Canyon. It was the perfect trip for our level (novice at best). Our guide, Hannah, was awesome!
She more than adequately prepared us for our trip. She reviewed basic safety things such as what to do if you fall out (none of us actually fell out) and what to do if the raft flipped (which also did not actually happen). Then she taught us the basic commends. While on the river, she prepared us for the rapids, telling us the names of the rapids and their level. On rapids that could be especially tricky, she told us what commands to expect.
Overall we had a great time! There were a few spots we were able to hop out and jump off rocks and swim at. Lunch was also fun, just chatting and such. Bonus points: Hannah was extra patient when I failed miserably at following directions on the first rapid. Next time I come to Colorado, I will definitely use Journey Quest again for...
Read moreWe (5 of us, including 3 kids under 12) actually did 2 rafting excursions this last 4th of July Holiday. One, with a mega commercial company in or near Canyon city and the other with Journey Quest. They were night and day. Journey Quest hands down is vastly better in every way possible in my opinion. From the wait time when getting there, to the personalized attention of the staff, to the friendliness, to the actual rafting and the guide (Katie was great), to the picture packages they offer, to the price, to everything. Can't give enough compliments to them. The experience between the two are so different. They treated us as family and they gave my kids and wife a great experience that we can build on. My wife was hesitant after the 1st trip and Katie made her feel super safe on our second with JQ. And they were more affordable... by a lot!!! Great family that runs it with a great purpose. Highly recommend them to all that are thinking of rafting the Arkansas River. Thanks for a great experience...
