Pike National Forest — Local services in Four Corners States

The views are amazing. However, we went to hike from Devil's playground to pikes peak. We didn't make it all the way due to all the snow and ice towards the top of the hiking trail. When we got back to our car a couple of hours later, we received a note saying we had stayed past hours. The note also stated that the hours were clearly marked at the gate. This place was awesome. The crazy drive up was worth it. Not worth taking the bus to the top. No one will know you didn't go the last short distance. Your pictures will still wow them. Make sure your in a well maintained car too. You will not use your brakes on the descent only low gears otherwise your brakes will overheat and go out. They do a brake temperature check about 2/3 down the route. The weather can change rapidly. We started at 86 degrees and sunny on the bottom and 64 and rainy by the time we hit the top....
