Sheridan Saddle and Buckle Co. — Local services in Four Corners States

I just got my saddle yesterday so I will be updating this as I use it a few times.

I'm really happy with my saddle. At this point, I would be giving it four and a half stars, but Google doesn't do half stars.

It's so pretty. I customized a few things on it and I'm very happy I did (pretty conchos and real wool). The leather feels good, and I was really happy because it came ready to use with a back cinch, nylon latigo, and leather and nylon off-billet. Seat is incredibly comfy and fits very well, and I appreciate the fact that the stirrups are exactly fit for my height. The ONLY bad thing I will say about this saddle for right now is the color of the buckstitch. Online, the saddle I ordered was the Chocolate Turquoise Buckstitch Barrel Saddle. The buckstitch is not turquoise. It is dark blue with a hint of teal at best. I was a little disappointed upon seeing it because the main reason I ordered this particular saddle was because I wanted the turquoise stitching to match my set (breast collar, wither strap, bridle, splints and bell boots) and it does not. Its not that huge of a deal, but if anyone is reading the reviews and is thinking of getting the turquoise buckstitch, I just want to let them know that its blue. (In the photos, the buckstitch actually looks a lot more turquoise than it is, so I added some pics of it next to the turquoise stones in the conchos for comparison.) Other than that, as of right now I'm really happy with my saddle and I will be updating this over the next few weeks as I use it for the first few times 😊

First edit: Forgot to add that customer service was incredible for this company. I had dozens of questions and they answered them all, and responded super quickly

Second edit: Of course, having to contradict what I put in the first edit 🤣 I messaged CS abt a few last questions a good few days ago and never heard back. Still keeping the 4 star rating as it was meant to be 4.5 originally

Third edit: I have heard back from Customer Service. I have ridden in this saddle twice, both times used in it sprinting barrels. It feels comfortable...a little bit hard of a seat when warming up but I feel super secure in it when I'm running barrels. One thing I will say is the roughout kinda lifts your jeans, so if you're wearing bootcut, they get raised after a warmup. Going to use it for a barrel race the next three days and I will make my final edit. Still keeping my review at a 4!

Fourth (and hopefully final) edit: I used this all 3 days at my race. Super comfy to run in. The stirrups don't have much grip, I lost them multiple times throughout the race. I did fall off the last day of the race 😅 My mare rated really hard and I didn't stay on. I don't believe that was at all the saddles fault. Very happy with this, still keeping the 4 star, and only going to update again if...

I will start with the good: The purchasing process and creating the saddle was absolutely amazing. All questions were answered, a mock preview was provided where we were able to make changes and adjust items as needed. They were very transparent with their turnaround times. Saddle arrived and it is simply gorgeous. Fits my daughter’s horse perfectly. The bad: Despite them asking for height, this was not taking into account. The stirrups are still very long with them having to be on the very last hole. Making the hobble strap useless as it doesn’t close. To top that off, they built the saddle with the wrong conchos. They acknowledged this and placed a new order for the correct conchos right away. It’s been a little over a month and we are still waiting for the correct conchos as well as an already paid for breast collar that was supposed to be shipped with the saddle. One thing is to address the issue, another is to correct the problem promptly. I don’t see why we have to be waiting over a month to receive the correct conchos as well as the paid for breast collar that was set aside for us (unless they sold the breast collar and are now having to make one from scratch).

The ladies in customer service make all the difference and as companies go, I realize they don’t have much power to expedite things. To the people actually in charge of the work flow, you can do better. A customer that buys one saddle is as important as the one with multiple orders.

Hopefully we won’t be having to wait much longer...

Let me start off by saying I was so excited when I seen the mock up it looked really nice and then I waited until I got the saddle which I expected for it to be custom-made and the buckles and the tooling are very nice, but the saddle craftsmanship is poor- uneven leather work - poorly attached fleece , which i paid extra for real fleace! Lol not worth it , The stirrup clasp where you adjust for length where put on backwards and causes the leather to stick down into the stirrup probably gonna have it fixed locally because these people take forever needless to say not very impressed especially because the price point so I would say this is a lower end saddle With fancy options, but definitely poor quality saddle Smiths in my opinion .🤷‍♂️update saddle rides okay fixed the stirrup fenders had to drill out copper rivets and re attached with Chicago screws took about an hour or so - 3 stars because it rides okay fits horse but isn’t the most comfortable thing I’ve ridden , have another. Brand saddle that’s half the price that rides better and is more comfortable but live and learn I’m definitely going to spend an extra 500 next time and get a more better quality brand , I regret getting my name on it because resell is...
