I absolutely LOVE living here at Tierra Vida! I moved here exactly four weeks ago, and I love everything about my one-bedroom apartment. This place is golden, largely because of its geography, built around an arroyo/wash. The views and walking trails are wonderful.
The vinyl wood flooring is fabulous! It cleans so easily, and much warmer than tile. And really beautiful with every color of wood grain. All my furnishings look all the richer because of it.
I really love the light wood grain color of the cupboards in bathroom and kitchen. And I'm thrilled about the kitchen countertops - a soft taupe - is it formica? Whatever, it's warm, and forgiving and Not Marble! Praise God! I so dislike the popular but harsh, cold tiles and marbles and stainless steel these days. Everything breaks on it, sounds echo, and it's so hard on the feet and legs and hands. The materials used in this apartment are all warm and inviting and comforting. I'm so grateful for these good choices made, again, by some genius.
I'm thrilled to finally have my own washer and dryer in the kitchen. Super handy, and I draped a lovely floral cloth over it so it looks great. The W&D may look small, but they hold a normal load for me. I've never had a washer and dryer that operated so quickly. Amazing!
The high ceilings and big living room make the place feel so very spacious. I have an art gallery on my walls, and the space created makes every piece all the more beautiful.
If you're considering this place and you're downsizing, you may feel like you can't quite breathe in a place that only has one sliding glass door and one window. But these genius planners made it such that it doesn't feel closed in at all. I put a large mirror over my kitchen sink and on the far kitchen wall, which makes a big difference. The mirror on the bedroom closet door adds a lot of space and light.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the management and maintenance staff are excellent, to a person: Bradley, Will, Brandy, Rafael & Danny! I offer this glowing review of them without reservation. They attend to the smallest of maintenance requests within hours and with genuine care and quality work. I cannot say enough about their kindness and integrity.
I am a highly educated, critical, high maintenance, clean, picky, artistic older woman. I've lived in over 35 homes in my life, growing up as the daughter of a high-ranking military officer. I've been spoiled by high standards, though most of my life I've been a single mother, working hard to pay the bills. But I know and appreciate quality and try to bring it wherever I live. I know how to be flexible and make the best of what I'm given. So most of the time I've learned to live with a good bit of compromise, given my limited income. That has been true all the more here in Tucson this past year, after leaving a thriving piano studio in Texas to move here near my aging parents and start all over.
All to say, this is why living here this past month is such a huge and rather surprising blessing. God alone caused me to "stumble" on this treasure of a place -- God, and the kind perseverance of Brandy and Will.
I may be ready to say that this is my favorite home I've ever lived in. You've no idea how amazing that statement is. But perhaps my many words here will lend credibility to my very...
Read moreI lived at this complex for two years and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. This is a HORRIBLE complex and I do not recommend anyone move here. The employees are unbelievably rude, and most times, they are nasty to their residents. The original manager, Delores, was so nasty I had to formally request to not interact with her and deny her entry to my apartment for my own mental health. She at one time stood outside of my apartment in the early hours of the morning and pounded nonstop on my door for over five minutes to ask me to move my car from its port when I was suffering from illness. She also had me live with a broken dishwasher that would flood my entire kitchen for nine months. She told me and my father directly that I was âtoo stupidâ to use a dishwasher, and that maintenance had told her I was lying, despite photo evidence. When maintenance was sent, it was weeks after the request. When Iâm my apartment, they were disrespectful to me and to my dog. They would fiddle with something for a few minutes and say it was fixed. The dishwasher flooded my apartment until the day I moved out. Following this, when I attempted to move out I was met by an absurd amount of fees. The current manager agreed via email I would not be prorated if I was moved out BY August 1st. However, when I did move out on July 28th, Samantha Garcia charged me a prorate of over $100 as well as attempted to lie and say I caused a great deal of damage and that my apartment âwreaked like piss,â due to my fully trained service dog, who has never peed in the apartment, living there with me. Instead of allowing me to discuss this with her, she screened mine and my parents phone calls and e-mails. She ignored me entirely and instead threatened me with collections and more fines. I placed over 15 calls and sent even more emails. When I finally went to the office, I discovered that the apartment complex had no paperwork on my residence there as well as no proof I ever caused any damage to the apartment. There was no lease, pet agreements, or any other forms signed by me, yet they continued to attempt to charge me fines based off âsigned paperworkâ that did not even exist. When I emailed Aimee Clark, she called a âcarpet expertâ and eventually dropped the pet fine but continued to hold the remaining fines, demanding a money order for $4 and refusing to return my deposit. Living here was absolute hell, and moving out was even worse. I strongly recommend avoiding this complex entirely, at least until it changes...
Read moreRenter beware!!!!! This has been the worst experience Iâve had with an apartment complex!!!!
Positive: +At Tierra Vida "Luxury" Apartments the majority of the staff is friendly.
+Complementary breakfast once a month in the office.
Negative: Parking is a constant hassle, you will have to park VERY far from your unit unless you are a 1 car household.
-Wild animals roaming the complex at all hours (javelinas that will chase you and your pet!) The complex has no fence in the back and is open desert which means that javelinas and other wild animals will roam around your apt. They refuse to fence the back of the apt complex!
-Although they call themselves âluxuryâ they are far from it. Carpers are old, walls are paper thin (you can hear your neighbors flush the toilet), old and yellow-ish blinds, squeaky floors and old washer and dryer. Also beware if you complain about the noise level they will let your neighbor know that it was you that complained about them.
-You are expected to pay for âupgradesâ such as lighting, above the stove microwave, sink faucet and ceiling fans with lighting.
-When you move out, expect to pay them! I have never had to pay and have always received the majority of my security deposit back since I leave my apartments clean and well taken care of, with the exception of normal wear and tear on carpets. We left the place spotless other than â3 small spotsâ on the carpet which where noted on the walk through we did with their staff member. Once we had moved out they immediately called to let us know our move out total was incorrect & that water had not been included in our billing and therefore we would not only NOT get our deposit back but owe them money. We were charged $100 for the carpet cleaning. What upsets me the most about this is that I called on the 1st to make sure that was out final balance, Niki confirmed over the phone with me. They even had 17 days to adjust any mistake but waited until 2 days after we moved to send us a bill notifying us we not get our deposit and that we owed them money. Of course they denied the remembering my call and because it wasnât documented there is no way we can prove otherwise even though I said I would show them my phone record.
Suffice to say our experience living there was awful. If you are looking for an apartment complex in the area I am positive that you can find a much better home than Tierra Vida "Luxury"...
