I am a rest area & historic reviewer for a magazine in my home town. I review all the places I travel to and tell everyone what I see and how my experience is there. So I thought I would share my amazing experience with you! I stopped by the rest area earlier on 1-64 East Bound in the Woodford County Line for a quick stop to use the restroom and get something to drink. Sadly they don't have any pop machines yet, but the women's restroom was the cleanest restroom I have ever been in! Including my own sadly! There was the nicest rest area employee named Brandi there. I came in and she was sweating from head to toe from cleaning so much and making sure the place stayed very clean. She was very nice to talk to and made my experience very welcomed! I even offered her a $20 tip and she wouldn't accept it. But she had no choice to after I left it on the sink for her when I was walking out. She is even pregnant and talked about how she can pop anyday and that wasn't stopping her from making sure everything was done for the travelers to enjoy their stop. I am very pleased with this rest area and especially the woman's restroom! And I will for sure to always stop by when I come threw! Thank you so much 1-64 East and thank you Brandi...
Read moreWell-lit at night, good handicapped parking access. The restrooms building has the usual - rack of travel brochures, large map and water fountains (1 accessible). Restrooms are clean, but very rundown. In the women's restroom, two out of three hand dryers are broken, two out of three sink faucets won't shut off completely.
There are a few picnic tables, with a couple under cover. Separate covered vending machine area with soda, water & snacks available. The dog walk is basically the median strip. I suppose it's useful for its purpose, but not a great place for a stroll. December 2021, it's posted that face masks are required for entry, but no one but me and the cleaning lady were wearing one.
Overall, I've definitely seen worse and the cleanliness of the restrooms is outstanding. Adequate for a quick pit stop, but I would probably choose a different one if you're looking for a place to picnic or spend some time to...
Read moreVery clean and well maintained rest area. Lots of green space for dog walking. I spoke with some of the staff and they were very nice and helpful. KY has nice down to earth folks that leave a great impression. The bathroom dryers where those kind that bloe air super hard and they had three so you can use a separate one for each hand for speed. This was among one of the nicest highway rest stops I have been to. There was a pull off lane on the way out which looked like it might have been an RV dump station at one time but is no longer in...
