I was like most people, very afraid to do something like this. Ok, terrified. I promised my friend I would do it with him. I asked for Andre as I had read good reviews. People, I had the time of my life. Andre and the staff at Skydive Indianapolis are incredible. They did not poke fun about my apprehension. Rather they shared similar stories about their first time. Andre was super cool, knowledgeable, and reassuring. Like most of you, I was very nervous and could not believe what I was about to do. Andre harnessed me in and went over details about procedure. I watched as all the other instructors did the same for their clients. I observed every move they all made. Lol. Once we were in the plane it sank in that this was really happening. Andre gave further instructions and harnessed us tightly together while instructing me on what to expect, how we would do this, and reassured me that we would be safe and that he “had a lot to live for”. Ha ha. So the plane reaches altitude and the door opens, a cold wind comes inside cabin. We ease to the door and I follow the instructions to the letter. The moment comes and we leave plane. Guess what, Absolute bliss!!!!! Words can not describe the excitement. There is no fear, Just bliss. I had no anxiety, no nervousness, just joy!!! I quickly realized that I had foolishly been setting myself up to be scared for no reason. We fell for around 40 seconds which I wished would have went on forever. I mean it is incredible, Your mind goes straight to this is happening and what an amazing experience. Then the parachute opens, A subtle jerk suspends you in the air. I couldn’t help but holler with joy from my excitement. Incredible, Andre then asked me if I wanted to do anything exciting or just coast to the ground gently. My first reaction was we just go gentle, but then decided let’s do something fun, He did a couple neat manuvours and took me through the largest cloud. A memory I will carry forever. The entire time we had the coolest camera guy ever. His name is Nic. He is a rock star!!!! We sailed gently down to the ground while Andre guided me through what to expect the entire time. We gently landed and were greeted by “Rock Star” Nic to capture our landing on film. I was so impressed and filled with joy that I wanted to do it again right away. These flying cowboys are awesome. Once you leave the plane you quick realize that “everything great in this life is on the other side of fear.” I had the time of my life. We have made arrangements to go again next month.. if you are thinking of doing this I strongly recommend Skydive Indianapolis. I met the owner and he is truly a heck of a guy. Cares deeply about his team, his guest jumpers, and the experience. I promise if your afraid, I shared the same feelings. It is worth taking the leap as you soon realize it was all in your head and these guys are the best at what they do. I hope my experience helps you make the decision to experience the thrill I did. It’s beyond words and totally worth it!! You will not be disappointed. You can see my jump on YouTube and Watch first hand at how great Nic’s videos are and how awesome Andre is. Read moreWhat an amazing experience! I have jumped one other time, down in KY and it was a very sketchy experience compared to this. These guys and gals did everything perfect and it was such a comfortable and safe experience. The tandem instructor was extremely nice, reassuring, and complimentary. All the instructors were very lighthearted, inclusive of everyone on the jump, and just made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
The free fall was an incredible experience! Too bad it was over nothing but a bunch of cornfields (but that's not anyone's fault, just the price of living in Indiana lol). The instructor, knowing it was my second time, gave me a spin in free fall which was new to me and super awesome.
The chute ride down was perfect! Such a beautiful scenery to behold (even if it's mostly just cornfields lol) from that high up with nothing at all between it and you except the clothes on you. The feeling is almost indescribable.
I will say the landing was quite rough for me (the other 4 I went with had no issues, they all slid in to the landing, as I did the first time I went when I was down in KY). The instructor kind of just plopped us straight down and bruised my tail bone (possibly broke the coccyx, who knows. Not that big of a deal) pretty good.
Overall the whole experience was truly amazing. I'd HAPPILY go a 3rd, 4th, and even more times yet again! Especially at this facility! Great job, great jump, and excellent all around Skydive Indianapolis!! Thank you all so very much for an experience I GUARANTEE YOU I will...
Read moreWent skydiving for the first time ever yesterday and I was really scared leading up to it. I for real can't even get on step ladders without shaking, but waiting and watching other groups go up and come back down with big smiles on their faces was really reassuring. By the time you have your harness on, there isn't much time to think about being scared. It is a really surreal experience and a rush like no other. I am so glad I did it! Lukas and Chuck were awesome and helped me feel safe and comfortable. I would do it again. :)
Some notes: -We were rescheduled twice due to weather and that's okay because we would rather be safe than sorry. Our weather was perfect on the third try and we went around 7pm so the almost-sunset-time views were really beautiful. -Bring water and some snacks in case you have to wait a while for your group to jump. They also have vending machines if you have cash. -Seating is a little limited if they're very busy, but there are picnic tables and chairs outside, too. (Bring sunscreen - some aren't under shade!) -You only feel like you're falling for a moment when you jump out of the plane. The rest is like floating! -If you are worried you will look floppy in your video, you will actually look even floppier than you are imagining. But it's worth it! -It's much quieter than expected once the chute opens. -It's very cool to be the first one out of the plane. Plus, you get the best view!
Thanks so much, everyone. What a...
