The beauty of this place is in its quiet serenity. It is peaceful and relaxed. But the best part is the menagerie. There is a rooster crowing and turkey gobbling and bunnies, a dozen or so, bouncing around nibbling at the clover. There are ducks over here and a cat laying the sun over there, and a well loved dog chasing the animals around the lawn. As an added bonus, stunning red cardinals swoop in for their turn at the bird feeder.
One morning, while relaxing on the porch, I saw a little red fox come trotting onto the property. First, he went for the rabbits, but they were too quick. Then he did a couple of laps around the chicken coop, to no avail. Finally, he made a half-hearted attempt at a squirrel before giving up and retreating from the battlefield. “See you tomorrow”, he thought.
Close enough to Gettysburg to take advantage of all it has to offer, but far enough away to make you feel like you never...

We were greeted with a fridge stocked with yogurt, fresh fruit, breakfast sandwiches and everything to make a wonderful pot of coffee. Just three miles from the battlefields, downtown, antiques, seasonal festivals, Gettysburg College, tours etc. it's wonderful to return to Brierfield after a full day and sit on your own private screened porch and enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the quiet.
