Update November 2024 Just a quick update now that the season is almost over. Once again, Flocktown has met and exceeded our expectations!
This season, we enjoyed our regular tried-and-true favorites (excellent fresh spinach and Swiss chard, delicious chioggia beets, cantaloupe that just screamed summer, garlic we could just not get enough of etc etc etc.)
We also tried many new favorites (the purple potatoes and some varieties of winter squash we never tried before stand out.) Everything was so fresh and flavorful!
Ordering via the app was made even easier with some much appreciated changes (can’t remember if they were made end of last season or early this season.) Each week I looked forward to see what was planned for our share and then customizing it however I wanted to get our most favorite items.
And as always, the home delivery was a huge selling point for us: it was so easy to order what we wanted and just step outside our house to pick it up! We always left a cooler outside for our delivery since we were not sure when we would bring it inside, and as in prior years, all delivery drivers took such care to place our share in the cooler with no bruising or rough handling, to assure we always got great produce!
Thank you to the farmers, office team, drivers, and everyone else at Flocktown for another great season. We’re already looking forward to next season, and needless to say, we still highly recommend Flocktown!

Update early 2024
I thought I’d update this review now that I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years. I am happy to say I am still a very happy Flocktown customer!
I was confused to read a couple of negative reviews that were posted. I have NEVER had any bad experiences or bad produce from Flocktown. The produce we have gotten has always been abundant, fresh, and incredibly delicious (much better than I’ve gotten elsewhere.) While some of it (a very small amount) may look a little odd (example: tomatoes may not be perfectly round or potatoes may be a little ‘bumpy’) I expect this with ALL organic locally grown produce, and I’d rather have no harmful chemicals in my food than ‘pretty’ produce. Besides, I am more interested in taste (always excellent!!!) and freshness (can’t be beat!) over appearance.
I highly recommend Flocktown to anyone who loves delicious,...
Read moreI like to support local businesses wherever I live. I was excited to sign up for the Flocktown Farm CSA, expecting quality, quantity, and transparency. As a long-time supporter of CSAs, I anticipated Flocktown Farm would be comparable to others I have used in the past.
However, from the first delivery, it became clear that Flocktown Farm’s model is disappointing. The share is extremely expensive for what is included in the boxes, and their CSA model seems to benefit them more than the customers.
I opted for the large share, thinking it might be too much and that I might need to switch to a smaller plan. To my surprise, the large share is not sufficient for a single person, let alone two people or a family.
If there is a product surplus they will not pass on to their customers, but they are happy to inform you so you can purchase more for an additional charge.
The online store opens at a particular day and time, and it's hard to get items because they sell out quickly, even when you bought your share.
Their CSA model is highly advantageous to them, so no, it is a no from us. I am happier shopping for organics at farmer’s markets and regular supermarkets. It’s less expensive, and I don’t feel like my wallet and goodwill are being taken advantage of, even with the current inflation.
Thumbs way...
Read moreI am really disappointed in my experience at Flocktown farms. First the quality of the vegetables has steadily gone down hill as the season has progressed. This past week I was shorted almost half my order and the watermelon I received was overrule and inedible. When I tried to call no one is there to answer but I did receive an email stating I could get a credit. This credit can only be used in the swapping part and not in the add on store. This creates a challenge because there isn’t much to swap for. Now at nearly the end of the season I have a large credit and no where to use it. I feel this was an expensive, inflexible system with mediocre customer service. I also switched to a smaller 1/2 share and once again was given unusable credit. I’m ok w supporting a cooperative, but will NEVER buy in for the future. I think they should be crystal clear about their credit policy.
Update: 9/9/18 The people at Flocktown reached out to me to apologize for the mixup. They allowed me to move my credit so that now I can purchase from the add on store. I do feel their...
