I went in for lunch meat & avocados & was super disappointed. They had two baskets full of avocados (probably 30-40 altogether), but EVERY one was waaaayy overripe; black & squishy + the ends were very shriveled. Most of the produce was lacking. -- poor quality/ high prices Then, I went to the deli & the lady working was rather rude. I guess she doesn't want to serve anyone when it's a little over an hour till the deli closes-- She said she'd had already cleaned the machines- lol... Then, she said she would give me something already sliced on display, but if I REALLY wanted it, she would slice something... But she would have to reassemble the slicer & take the machine apart again to clean it. I'd think that is be something to be done AFTER the deli closes--or at least closer to closing time. What is the point of a closing time if they just shut down when they want. The prices weren't even correct, but they wouldn't honor them & didn't even care enough to change/ take down tags even after I had asked (I walked past 30min later, before I checked out) Everyone else was very nice & helpful. Things tend to be more expensive here unless on sale, so you think customer service would be a necessity. I stopped by customer service, but she was busy discussing personal issues with someone that was absolutely NOT appropriate for the workplace... Let alone in front of customers. I went in to buy a cup of coffee...apparently an employee had just bought the last cup in the one & only airpot which was empty & there was no back up coffe brewed. I spent $40.00@+ on a couple items including an 18 lb. bag of bird seed for $9.99+tax....upon leaving the store, I noticed a 20 lb. bag of bird seed tagged @ $9.99 on the shelf in the vestibule/ entrance...I picked the bag up & went back in to ask the cashier for an even exchange as the were both tagged the same price & the 20# bag was NOT on the shelf in the Pet Food aisle. I was initially told I would have tocome back tomorrow as the customer service desk was closed for the evening. I live an hours drive away & that is the first & LAST time I will EVER shop at that Giant Eagle. The night manager on duty finally relented after I vehemently complained & did a return tohsnd me my money back....I did NOT askfor my money back...I wanted to make an even exchange of an item I had JUST purchased ! He finally relented after I statedthat I would call Giant Eagle corporate & the franchise owner to complain. Giant Eagle's prices are already too high & now I have another reason not to shop...
Read moreWe shop here frequently and we love the deals and the workers at the customer service desk are always polite and helpful, however, some of the cashiers there need to lose their attitude with customers. If they don't want to be there, they shouldn't be. It seems like in the past 5 months, cashiers are either slamming your groceries around, getting pushy, or just irritated in general that they are there to do a job. 6 months ago I would of gave them 5⭐ but honestly it's to the point we dread even going through a check out line and I'm guessing that's most people because a lot of the times the self checkouts are full as well. As someone that spends hundreds of dollars weekly in this store, I'm about to start going to Dry Tavern Giant Eagle instead, just to be treated properly by the cashiers.
