If you've never been on a trail ride let this be your 1st! You will not be disappointed! Took the hour and a half trail ride with Hickory Hollow Horse Farm through Gettysburg battlefield for my 60th birthday 2 weeks and it was the best present I could have given myself! Very knowledgeable horse people AKA equestrians are extremely knowledgeable pairing you with the best horse suit for you and your needs. Mary, our historical guide shared so many stories and was just a wealth of knowledge with patience to answer any and all questions we might have. Our front and rear guides kept the trail ride at a good pace and we would stop frequently to wait for those who might be further behind. All the horses are extremely well-mannered, obedient, and very very well taken care of! My horse "Thunder" that I had the pleasure of him allowing me to ride for an hour and a half was attentive and very careful while he carried me through the woods downhill, uphill, and on the trail through the battlefields. I strongly encourage you those with zero horse knowledge to those who are experience horse handlers take this pleasure ride with Hickory Hollow Horse Farm you definitely will not be disappointed and will have lasting memories to cherish a lifetime, just like me! Thank you Hickory Hollow Horse Farms for giving me the best 60th birthday gift I could have ever received! I plan on coming back soon! 🐎

My family and I went on the 2-hr guided battlefield tour on 6/22/19. My daughter found out about the tour and made a reservation. When we got to McMillan Woods, we were greeted warmly by Pam and her teammates. Pam was wearing a t-shirt that talked about doing what you love. She has been working there for 38 years and she's just as passionate about what they do at HHHF now as she was the first day she started. I was very impressed at how enthusiastic and professional everyone was. Our ride started on Seminary Ridge and went through the woods to the Spangler Farm. From there we crossed along the same route that some of Pickett's soldiers would have taken towards the Union lines. We ended up at the Peach Orchard. Our guide, Mary, was just superb in her knowledge of the Battle of Gettysburg. We learned so much in such a short time! This was my son's first horseback ride and Paul took very, very good care of him. We had the privilege of riding James, Spirit, Sky, and Gracie. All our horses were a pleasure to ride. The scenery was just gorgeous along the route. The 2 hours passed very quickly. I think we all wanted it to last forever! I strongly recommend HHHF. The people are just wonderful, as are the horses and the scenery. We will never forget our experience with Pam and her team. We will definitely be back!

This was a stellar experience. The wranglers were well equipped to manage both the horses and the greenhorns (tourists) they kept the horses and riders safe and comfortable and made this a very enjoyable experience. The guide was exceptional and knew not just his prepared information but could answer all questions. He also connected the battle to the states everyone was from in some way. They offer a scenic tour or a battlefield historic tour. Those wanting the battle tour received an ear piece and could hear the guide those that just wanted a ride did not have an ear piece. I highly recommend the ear piece. To ride through the battlefield while listening to the stories was a memorable experience. Pam the owner takes this operation very seriously and was so easy to work with. She also accompanied us on the ride. If you're thinking about doing this ..... Do it!

We recently had the privilege of taking a tour of the Gettysburg battlefield with Hickory Hollow Horse Farm, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! Our group of 17 was accommodated with the utmost care and attention to detail, making our visit both enjoyable and memorable.

Pam the owner greeted us with warmth and ensured that all our needs were met. The staff were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. They made sure that everyone in our group was comfortable and well-prepared for the tour.

Our tour guide was nothing short of phenomenal. His deep knowledge of the Gettysburg battlefield and passion for history brought the tour to life. He provided us with fascinating insights and stories, making the experience both educational and engaging. The guide was patient and answered all our questions, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge, could appreciate the significance of the site.

The horses were well-trained and clearly well-cared for, adding to the overall enjoyment of the tour. Riding through the historic battlefield on horseback was a unique and moving experience, offering a perspective that is both immersive and reflective.

Hickory Hollow Horse Farm's organization and professionalism were evident throughout our visit. Despite our large group size, everything ran smoothly and efficiently. Pam's dedication to providing an exceptional experience was clear in every aspect of our tour.

I highly recommend Hickory Hollow Horse Farm for anyone looking to tour the Gettysburg battlefield. Their ability to accommodate a large group with such excellence is truly commendable. Thank you to Pam, the staff, and our incredible tour guide for making our visit so special and...

Our family of six scheduled a guided horseback tour of the Gettysburg battlefields with Hickory Hollow Farm. We were beyond thrilled with every aspect of the outing. The ease of completing the scheduling, payment and waivers all online, plus access to everything we needed to know about preparing for the tour was made easy on the website. The day of the tour we arrived early because we were so excited. We were greeted by friendly staff who welcomed us warmly and encouraged us to go meet the horses we would be riding while they finished their preparations. Every horse was immaculately groomed, saddled and quietly waiting to start their day. Hickory Hollow has the calmest, most beautiful well-trained horses I have ever had the pleasure of riding. The staff ensured that even the most novice rider would be safe and comfortable for the ride by educating them on handling the reins and correct etiquette for the well-being of the horse they were riding. The tour of the battlefields, which was already so unique from the perspective of being on horseback, was further enhanced by an outstanding narration of the 3-day battle by the park ranger as we rode. His knowledge of the skirmishes, troop placement and interesting aspects of the people who lived on the land during the battles, brought that time to life for us. The beauty of the rolling landscape was breathtaking. I strongly encourage anyone who has an interest in history and a love of riding to take this guided tour. You will cherish every minute! Our sincerest thanks to Pam, all the staff and the wonderful horses from Hickory Hollow Farm. See you again...

My wife and I came to Gettysburg for the anniversary of the battle and booked a private horseback tour with a certified battlefield guide. Pam from Hickory Hollow was absolutely wonderful to work with in making the arrangements prior to our visit, and the ride was simply wonderful. The horses were well aged (in a good way) and very minimal guidance was needed during the entirety of the tour. I had some concern for my Wife with riding as she has never had the opportunity. However, after mounting and getting underway, my concern for her was alleviated by how well the horses were cared for and trained. Pam even had some very handy steps to help with mounting. Our battlefield guide, Rick, was a pleasure to listen to as well! Rick was very well spoken and plenty knowledgeable of the history surrounding major events and landmarks from the days of battle. Due to the heat, our tour ran about 20 minutes short, but I didn't feel as though we missed any thing important in terms of the history and reverence of what we were observing. We intend to return to Gettysburg in the future to see a reenactment of the battling and likely another tour with Hickory Hollow! The primary reasons this review is just shy of 5-stars is simply because of the pace of the ride, as well as the area traveled to. The pace was about average walking speed, if not a little more leisurely, and it would have been nice to venture nearer the fields and monuments while on horseback. However, even taking into account those things, I can highly recommend Hickory Hollow as a must for your...
