This place deserves a billion stars. I was in the area taking care of some personal business and I saw the sign. I turned and went up the road. The place I saw from road was not the distillery. I kept going and going and was about to turn around after seeing the second sign. But I proceeded. SO GLAD I KEPT GOING!!!! This place is amazing. The views are SPECTACULAR, the owners knowledge of the history of the land was very detailed but not BORING. It was completely riveting. He showed us the old farm buildings and how they kept everything the way it was. Springhouse ....lower right in picture....(with watercress growing/watercress only grows in pure water....who knew?), grain building (built so tight it kept the small animals out), horse barn (note the small door for the horses), main house with separate kitchen (because kitchens were susceptible to fires), root cellar. The view from above is like a scene from a movie. Then we went into his nano-distillery and sampled the product. Up until then I had no idea what he was actually making.....turns out it is moonshine and brandy. To be honest I was disappointed.....not sure I've ever had a moonshine that I teally liked. They all taste like jet fuel to me But I played along and wow this stuff is so smooth......and tasty .....we sampled pear moonshine(very limited), apple pie moonshine, apple brandy, maple moonshine and maple liqueur. I liked them all. I bought both bottles of the maple. This place is really dog friendly. Owner invited my dog out before I even asked if she was welcome. His farm dog Xena was so cool. What a great find. What an absolute gem of a place. Well worth the time and the effort to get there.

If you’re interested in learning about some West Virginia history, historic landmarks, and learning more about the distilling process I cannot recommend this place enough. The owner, Jeff is passionate about preserving the homestead and the resources on the homestead that are used to distill delicious moonshine and brandy. We ended up getting one of each, but I highly recommend the apple pie. We cannot wait to return in the future!

Jeff, the owner, is super welcoming and friendly. He offered us a tour of the facilities, a bunch of info on the process, and of the historic homestead. We had a tasting of all of the distilled creations, drove to the top of the property and sat at the pavilion to soak up the view, explored the homestead on a self guided tour, and had amazing time. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're anywhere near it.

Come here if what you want is to get a 1:1 history and experience of moonshining on an historic property. Not only is the spirit great, but the museum is not to be missed. When they say to talk the walk up the hill, take the walk!! It’s not a big place, so you can’t just fade into the woodwork and get a touch of moonshine culture when you want to, but if you are into interacting with the people, place, and perspective that makes a good liquor great, this is worth...

I spent a few hours on the property. Thoroughly enjoyed my time. Its a unique experience, I wouldn't recommend showing up cold without notice, but from my experience, its a unique get away that you won't forget.

I had a fantastic time getting to know the purveyors. I don't think you will regret the trip to see what they have to offer. I see a lot of places and properties, this stood out as a great experience that I want...
