Not being a hater here....Most seasonal crops are done so the selection was really limited. Hence the 3 star.
Nice produce market right off the highway. We were late in the season so most of the produce was done and their selection really should have been culled and discarded.
Prices are mostly grocery store range, so cheapskates will hate it. But fair to the owners and farmers they work with, so I think they price correctly.
I got some Cranberry beans, lentils and amish butter (it's made in OH). And eggplant. Haven't made the beans or lentils yet, but looking forward to it, they are dried out and harvested at the right time to dry out so i have no fear of tough hard to cookout to get soft issues.
Will definitely stop again...
Read moreFun fun fun. Lots of preserved product on the shelf. They carried some of my favorite things. I have a couple of recommendations. Wet burlap is better at keeping the corn cool and fresh. I could more easily locate some of the preserves that were above my head. I reached for them and found them to be expired. Luckily I had located som that weren't but I'm not sure because I didn't readily find any dates on them. I prefer dates as I have more confidence in the product. Granted , we are usually doing something else up that way but buying from them makes us feel we are buying from a friend and that we are not just another sucker walking through the door . Case in point , we buy deer apples there as it's my wife's favorite hobby to feed the plethora af animals we have coming from the woods . We bought some about 6 weeks ago that were pretty bad , just plain mush . " just go ahead and take two more" is what I was told ! No " where's the receipt?" , what date was it or anything like that .
