If I could still post a review with zero stars, that's what I would give Hollidaysburg Manor. In fact, I'd even go into negative stars. Whatever you do, do NOT move in here! RUN, as far as you can, get away from this place!
First, the grounds are not kept up with. And it's not the people they hire to mow or keep up with the yard. They do what they are paid to do. They would love to do more. But, they are also treated unfairly by management. I have pictures to back up my statement. All of the flower beds might as well be ripped out and replaced with grass. Overgrown bushes until the one time of year towards the fall, they will actually trim them. There is zero upkeep there. Now, last summer, they did have a huge pile of mulch delivered and mulched the flower beds. Well, the visible flower beds from the road. Ya know, to make their sign look nice and any flower bed that might be seen by someone else, they try to move in. Shows how deceiving management is.
The "gym" they have available? No, that won't cost you extra like the pool, but it is extremely old and outdated. And when you use it, some of the equipment feels unsafe. But with this place, that makes sense that something old and falling apart is free!
The pool? That cost extra PER PERSON in your apartment that will be using it. My daughter, who was 6, costed as much as an adult did, and if you want to bring a guest, you can buy a guest past, but that has to be done through the office in advance. So, if you had a guest on the weekend and decided to go to the pool, you better have bought a guest past during office hours. We put in multiple complaints about how dirty and cold it was being kept. Nothing was ever done. It is supposed to be heated. My daughter got stung by a bee in the water while she was swimming because of how much debris was in the pool. The life guards were even upset because the heater to the pool was being shut off at night, which caused the pool to be freezing during the hours in which it was open. We brought the concerns to management, and they put the blame on the lifeguards, but still no improvement. Our family chose to pay and go to Martinsburg pool instead. Clean, friendly, warm, and cheaper. And as often as we went, it still ended up costing us less money than buying each of us a pool pass.
We mentioned repainting the parking lot lines and were told when they eventually decide to replave the parking lot, then they would repaint the lines. The lines were practically non-existent! But don't worry, they spent the time repaiting the speed bumps!
The office was a nightmare to deal with. Many residents feel the same. Better just lay low then go to them with any issue because then you actually make her have to do something which causes her to hate you and use everything in her power to make your life miserable. The manager has zero customer service experience. There's no compassion, just you're wrong for whatever it is and that's how it is. I even wrote a very informative email to Altman to let them know how the manager really was treating the residence and how their grounds were being kept. They reached out to the manager and had her contact me. When still nothing was resolved, I asked who her boss was because I wasnt speaking to her. I wanted to speak to who she reports to. She responded with she didn't have to tell me. Which she does, and I kept trying to go over her head with no luck.
Lastly, when you move out, they will nickle and dime you to owing more than what your security deposit was. So, if you move in, you might as well kiss it goodbye the second you hand it over. Under no circumstances will you actually get one back. They charged us for things we never should've been charged for! When we questioned the charges, we were told that they were justified charges. Absolutely no way. Also, if you think you're going to get a security deposit back, they will take their sweet time giving it back.
Please do yourself a favor and don't rent here. It's not worth dealing with management or false advertising. I don't have...
Read moreTopline: OK amenities, but terrible/fraudulent management.
The apartment itself was generally nice, except that one room smelled distinctly of animal urine when I moved in and it took over a month for management to replace the flooring (which minimized but did not eliminate the odor). Slow response times were management's hallmark throughout my time there.
More troublingly, management altered the terms of my lease after we had agreed on final terms, which cost me nearly $1000. They also attempted to defraud me of part of my security deposit by failing to provide the information required under PA law.
In short: it's a fine place to live, but be prepared to advocate for yourself and stay on your toes in all communications, because they will try to cheat you.
EDIT: Management replied to my public comment here offering to make things right (see below), but never responded when I followed up by email. Sadly, this is par for the...
Read moreI have been a resident of Hollidaysburgh Manor for about 8 years and couldn't have been happier! This place loves animals as do I and that was a very important factor on my choice of where to live. If you are social your neighbors will be so nice but at the same time if you are a private individual they will respect that also. The management and maintenance crew are all wonderful. Easy to talk to and they will take care of any situation for you. Trash is included in your rent, they fix anything that would happen to break very quickly, and they do all snow removal during winter. Peaceful, beautiful, clean, great location, just can't say enough about this place I called HOME for so many years. The only reason for moving from Hollidaysburgh Manor is because I bought a house, otherwise would have stayed longer if not forever. Me and my dog Cocoa will be forever...
