I am tired of buying new furniture that either needs to be put together or the finish chips away. So my husband and I decided to check out Canterbury's in Felton, DE, about an hour south of Wilmington, DE. I had checked out their websites many times and loved the quality furniture that they had. The prices are really reasonable also, and these two issues both were a big part of our decision to check it out. We drove down from Wilmington, found 5 or so large rooms of used and antique furniture; the owner is very nice and helpful, his name is Dave btw. We found furniture of high quality that was priced really inexpensively. We wandered around the whole store, and saw pieces that we liked, and went around the whole store again, just to make sure that we were happy with the pieces that we were going to buy. We wrote a list with the inventory number next to each piece, and Dave walked around with us to confirm each item. We needed to have it delivered up to Wilmington, which was no problem for them, we bought 7 pieces of beautiful vintage furniture and didnt pay a fraction of what these pieces would have cost new, and the new pieces would never have been as high quality and well made as the vintage pieces. We paid for our items and arranged for delivery, only 3 days later it was delivered, paid $100.00 dollars for delivery, which was a great price, and they delivered on time 3 days later and put each piece where we had wanted to place it, on a two level house! They also have layway, if you cannnot afford to pay for it right away. The furniture is QUALITY, the prices are LOW, the owner is very helpful, and it was a fun time for my husband and I to wander through the different rooms and see quality in piece after piece of furniture. After it was delivered and sitting in our home, I honestly felt for the first time that we bought great vintage furniture, that is still beautiful and stood the test of time so far, and that I know will continue to endure and bring beauty and service to our home for years! I felt a satisfaction of finally getting good pieces for great prices and great care taken by the owner at the store and delivery. I did not have that "ripped off" feeling that so many people get when trying or buying new furniture in today's world. The wood is real, the finishes are lovely, our family loved the pieces we bought and the furniture was very helpful during our hosting the Christmas holidays. We are two happy campers, and when we finish rehabbing the rest of "Our Old House", we will be going back to Canterbury, to furnish the rest of the space in the house. Thank you Dave for your store, the integrity you show with the items that you choose to sell and the great pricing of your items and your personal delivery and placement of the furniture. This is a 5 star store in our...
Read moreAll my best furniture has come from here! I love this place! It is the same as when I was a child and went here with my grandma, she taught me young to buy quality furniture. Also, they sell little vintage/antique knick-knacks and doilies and what-not…last time I was there I found the cups that go with a set of snack set plates I got elsewhere (but they were missing their cups.) I was so excited about that find! If you are looking for quality furniture (or Knick-knacks) at a fair price this is a great...
Read moreCanterbury Used Furniture is wonderful. We were looking for a queen bed, and Bob walked us thru the whole store looking at everything they have. The 2 story white building contains a whole lot more then you can imagine by looking at the building. Every item I saw was very high quality and many were just massive thick wooden furniture that they just do not make any more. They carry about everything you would need to furnish an entire home. The quality was very high and the pricing...
