Hardinsburg General Store & Ace Hardware — Local services in Fredericksburg

This is what a neighborhood hardware store should be. We picked up some Adirondak chairs, wood sealer, mealworms, and cinnamon rolls all in one stop. Very well stocked store, friendly and extremely helpful staff. They have a nice selection of Amish-made outdoor furniture at exceptional prices! I think every hardware store should have a deli/pizza spot like this one. I guess a draft beer while you shop probably violates some Draconian Indiana blue law, but a guy can dream. You can get footwear and housewares, ammo and ice cream. Put in some kiddie rides or bouncy house, and you could make a day of it. I'm waiting for the winery and live music. Really a great place! I brought my weed eater in to have them adjust the carbrator. It was a Tuesday and they said they couldn't get to it for 2 days. I went on Thursday and they had not even looked at it. On Monday I called and was told it needed a complete overhaul. Including a new spark plug that I had just changed. The repairs were going to cost $165. They offered to sell me a new one for $175. The weed eater would start with just one pull. It did not need all those repairs. I am a mechanic and normally work on my own tools etc. But this needed a specific tool to adjust it. One they do not sell to the public. I refused the repairs. They said it there would be a charge of $25. That if I didn't pay they would keep my weed eater. I will never do business with Ace...

Had a great experience at Hardinsburg General Store. Mark, the owner was very responsive to my messages about the tongue and groove boards they had for sale, and the whole team at the store from the folks inside to the guys out in the yard were great!

Their prices are unbeatable, it’s worth the drive to save hundreds of dollars. Beautiful well kept and organized store with a whole ton of products! I could spend an hour shopping here easy, and if I brought my wife it would be 2 hours. Oh, and they had the best cinnamon rolls which I had to include in my purchase!

Would highly recommend this hardware store and I’m sure I will be back...
