I want to first point out that in the 6 years we've been camping, this is the first time I have left a review. It was such a great experience, that I feel I needed to say something. We have been coming down to Fredericksburg for about 6 years now and are also members of quite a few wineries in the area. 6 years ago there were only about 2 RV parks that we knew about and since the one we always stayed at worked, we never explored any others. Now it seems there have been a few more that have opened up and this is one of them. We came down to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised by the level of communication prior to arrival, and the facilities in general once we arrived. We had a pretty extensive itinerary laid out, which meant we didn't get to enjoy the property as much as we would have liked to. However, everything we were able to try out was nothing short of amazing. The pool and spa area was awesome. Everything you needed was there, including complimentary towels, a water bottle fill station, clean restrooms, shade, lounges, etc. Spa was well heated without being too hot or luke warm, also was a generous size. The pool was surprisingly cool for the month of August. We struggle to keep our own pool at home at a decent, refreshing, temperature in these Texas summers. There is also a kid pool young ones can take advantage of. The RV site we stayed in was a pull through and the power, water, sewer was located close together and right in the middle of the pad which left you plenty of options for how you would like to park your camper. We also spoke to a couple staying in one of the yurts/tents or whatever you want to call them, and they had nothing but good things to say. They also have "tiny homes" available that look amazing based off of the photos we saw of the insides. The restrooms were hands down the best restrooms we have ever come across at an RV park. Each stall was it's own private "room" with a toilet, sink, and shower. This would make it very easy to bathe young children as they are contained in your private room rather than running around a multi-stall bathroom. The entire complex is fenced with gated access. Makes me feel much safer leaving our site for the day with personal items not 100% secured. i.e. bikes, bbq, toys, etc. Also, the wildlife is awesome to observe. You can almost find them any time of day wondering around, but can also observe them when the feeders, that are spread out around the park, go off and dozens of deer flock to get a morning or afternoon treat. The entire park was well kept and clean. Not to mention all the accent lighting was working and just enough to maneuver, or walk, at night without the light being intrusive and ruin the ambiance of the park at night. They have a very decently sized laundry facility with plenty of machines. We didn't have a chance to use them on our quick weekend trip, but had it been a full week, we definitely would have taken advantage of them to make coming home easier with minimal dirty laundry. Needless to say, this is our new favorite, and preferred, RV park in the area. You would be missing out to book anywhere else. With all the amenities, we wouldn't think twice about taking some time to ourselves on the town and leaving our adult children behind to watch our younger son. Also, after pulling out of this resort you are an easy 15 min. drive from downtown. I know it looks like it's further on google maps, but it really is an easy drive to any activity you have planned in, or around,...
Read moreThis property is very beautiful. Located on a lot of land ~16 miles outside of Fredericksburg, there is wildlife (esp adorable deers), stargazing, and the quiet you cannot get anywhere near the city. The resort is well thought out, has a beautiful pool/activity area, and the manager was very kind and welcoming.
The loft cabin was adorable and perfect for two adults. The a/c worked very well to keep us cool, warm water was plentiful, and the back porch overlooking the pond during sunset was beautiful.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen that makes it easy to prepare meals while relaxing. The kitchen comes with a Keurig and kcups as well as creamer. If you are dairy intolerant, I would recommend bringing your own milk and creamer (I do not expect them to provide this for you - they go the extra mile providing coffee and regular creamer).
The cabin could have been cleaner. Upon arrival, we found stray hairs in the restroom and on the bedding. There was also quite a bit of dust/dirt on the floors especially in the corners and around the baseboards. I rarely notice things like this so for me to notice was rather alarming. For a $75 cleaning fee for a relatively small space, I feel that the cabin should have been a tad bit cleaner.
The sheets and towels were perfectly clean. They provide quite a few towels in case you have two adults and two children staying with you. They also go the extra mile to provide make up wash cloths!
The front desk ladies could have been more attentive. We came back from hiking and the front desk agent was on the phone. When she got off, she still did not say anything to us so we had to approach her. Another woman came to the desk and did not know what we were asking about so the front desk agent finally chimed in the let her know why we were there. We were told to wait for the manager then finally after we waiting around awkwardly we asked her how long it should take. She said he would be a while (like 30 minutes), and we could just come back later. We left and never came back. Both of us have worked in customer service for years and found this very inattentive and awkward.
The temperature dropped the last night of our stay, and the office had closed early that day. We read the manual, turned on the heat, and the a/c unit started flashing green. We decided to troubleshoot this, and it turns out it was an error code. It was so cold that we decided to leave early (it was a 4 hour drive back home that night).
When an email was sent out to state that the office was closing at 5pm, the front desk manager cc’d every guests email address. I suddenly knew every person who booked the reservation staying at the resort that night. I believe guests privacy is of utmost importance. I would recommend using bcc instead of cc next time.
All in all, I did receive a promotion for 50% off of this stay, and I would not pay full price for this resort so I am glad that I received a discount.
I think that this facility has a lot of potential, but I also believe there is a lot of room for improvement.
Thank you for the part of our stay that...
Read morewe stayed in a cabin for one night, everything looked great until we realized the water wasn’t working…called the emerg hotline and Jennifer said it has frozen due to freezing temps. this is fine as nature will do what it wants, but we knew the weather forecast before arriving so the staff should know as well. they should’ve checked the water was working before we checked in, and then told us to drip the faucets at the bare minimum.
we checked all the communal bathrooms which are meant for the RV guests but every single one was locked?? we saw 1 RV but we couldn’t decide if it was an employee or an actual guest. either way, having zero bathrooms available on the property is insane and unacceptable. if they could not offer us water, they should’ve told us this before hand, we would’ve gotten a hotel room in town instead. a full refund should have been offered. instead Jennifer said she would email me the following day with what she could do for us (discount on future visit). but she never did until i followed up a week later. She says she must’ve typed my email address wrong (poor attention to detail). in her response she says sorry “it’s mother nature”, does not offer any sort of discount, and misspelled my name??? So the manager lied and did not offer anything. I also inquired about a possible item left in the cabin, and she said we were not charged the cleaning fee, but does that mean they didn’t find anything while cleaning? we know we didn’t trash the place and i checked my charges, i know i wasn’t charged anything else.
overall the cabin was lovely and the property looks nice, but staff was unhelpful and unprepared regardless of how “unforeseen” this weather event was. a quick weather forecast check would’ve enlightened you! also we were quite possible the only guest staying on the property, the whole situation felt very sus and weird. this situation probably won’t affect any future guests but at least you know the staff isn’t very good at communicating when issues arise. we won’t be going back :(
edit: jennifer never offered a refund if we decided not to stay, i’m positive because we would have left. she just asked if the heat was still running. i asked about a partial refund for the stay and she said she would get back to me the following day. why would i lie? i’ve already paid for the booking. also all 8 RV bathrooms were locked as all had the red occupied signs. furthermore, when my partner called for checkout, Amanda told him the main pump froze. The lack of consistent information being distributed is unfortunate. i expected more from a...
