The nursery itself is absolutely 5 stars! The selection, the health of the plants, the set up, it’s wonderful. Very organized, prices are great.
The reason I am leaving the 2 stars is because one of the employees, I didn’t get her name, which is unfortunate. If I could describe her, she was older in age, short light brown hair, seems like she’s been there for a while as other employees were asking her work questions.
She did not make our first trip here as a family very pleasant, because she thought walking out by the trees from the inside of the building to tell our 3 year old who was looking at the pond, to stay away. He was not a safety concern, both parents were standing there watching him, it’s not my fault a kid the day prior slipped and cracked his head (from what she said) I wasn’t there and it wasn’t my child that smacked his head. We let our kid explore when permitted and what he was doing, was safe and within reason for his age, I moved him anyway to continue looking. We were then by the building and he saw the hose, how fun right! Watch out don’t touch that hose of hers, because she will beat on the plexy glass and shoo him away with her hands, really classy. It’s giving controlling, it’s giving grumpy, it’s giving many uninviting vibes and to be frank, she gave me no opportunity as a mother to even talk to my own child if he WAS doing something he shouldn’t be doing. I raise respectful boys, they do age appropriate things. She needs to mind the business that pays her and instead of talking to children and telling toddlers what to do, she should as customers if they need help, I mean that’s what you are being paid for? In my personal and professional opinion, she may need to be re trained on proper and polite customer etiquette.
This nursery was beautiful and I loved the variety, I hope to come back and blow ridiculous amounts of money on my green friends, but with someone like that it makes it hard to even want to go back..
I will say all the other employees were helpful and kind, they were a great example for the old timer, respectfully.
Will give it another shot, hopefully she...
Read moreI really like this place. I like any place that has plants. They are a bit over priced but you can find some cute affordable plants in the mix. I've been here 3 times and each time I've bought plants. The few times I went I had the feeling as if I was being watched or discriminated against. I usually go mornings on the weekend in my pajamas and not my best dressed. The one time I went with a friend, we are both mexican american, we both took our children who were around 3 and 6 at the time. We noticed the treatment right away. I didn't know or understand why, because I thought it would be a weird thing to steal plants 🤔 I didn't even realize people did that so I thought it was just meh customer service. Well it turns out people DO steal plants, I just seen a meme about stealing propagating cuts. 🤦♀️ And it occurred to me that they have likely kept an eye on me for belief that I may be stealing. This is extremely hurtful as I genuinely liked this place and disregard the expensive prices. I always try to support my local businesses. No one else seemed to be treated this way especially the older and Caucasian customers. If there's any advice I'd like to pass along as someone who has worked along side security it is that thieves come in all colors and ages. You'd be surprised, some thieves even dress up really nice to fool you and aren't black or brown. I just hope this place learns to treat all walks of life with respect and care before discriminating against them and drawing conclusions. I don't want them to lose my business or others but I do feel as if something needs to be said. I always try to be respectful of the area especially with an 8 year old who likes to touch everything. I just wish I was treated with the same respect as a...
Read moreCalled and asked to talk to someone who does their purchasing. The lady on the phone was like “oh, yes!! that would be me.” so I was like oh good. Then I started to explain that I have a ton of brand new still in packaging and still have stickers and that they are the heavy duty one not the flimsy ones of planter saucers that sum have wheels and sum are stationary. Well before I could even say some have wheels and sum don’t she blurts out hecka rudely and snappy and says “Ummmm ya, no!!!! not interested!!!!!” And at first I was shocked. And sat there silent for a second or 2 and was like “excuse me ??” She rudely say “I said I’m not interested not something I want to be buying!!!!!!” So I said “wow!! Ok!!!” and mind u I was referred to call/go to this place by a manager at the Portland ave nursery) How rude and she is supposed to be in customer service!!! pfft plzzz to not even let someone finish their sentence is hella rude and plain disrespectful! Especially for a manager!! She should not be working with the public at all !!! I could see if I was trying to sell her something used or even something that has nothing to do with plants or something that has nothing to do with their kind of business but she treated me very poorly and rudely. I know that regardless if I didn’t want something someone is trying to sell (for very very very inexpensive mind you too) I would at least let them finish their sentences before snapping their...
