The pick your own activity depends heavily upon timing. This place attempts to milk every dollar. They either don’t plan appropriately or stay open too late into the season. My family was looking for an outdoor activity to take advantage of the weather. Battleview offers pick your own apples, a pumpkin patch and a hay ride (or something similar). You pay for everything you pick at a set price per pound. The fields were mostly empty and littered with rotten apples that had fallen. The pumpkin patch is similar to most, the pumpkins are spread out on a field. The hay ride is sitting on benches with a tractor pulling. They charge for the ride and everything in the fields are cash only.
I had an issue while paying for my apples. I came to the weight station and they told me I needed to place my apples in a bag before they would weigh them. No tables and the apples were in a bucket. I said okay and asked for bags. Apparently the bags are normally in the buckets. As I came in they had buckets on the floor with no bags. They wanted me to get off the line and go get bags when the kid at the station had bags. After carrying the heavy bags and walking the field I was not in the mood for the bs. The lines were long and I wasn’t going to wait again. Another individual brought me bags and I transferred the apples. The kid gave me a receipt ($72). He then looked over and someone filled the buckets I emptied with what looked like rotten apples. The kid attempted to add that to my charge. I told him they weren’t my apples. He got nasty and said that was your bucket. He called his supervisor. The supervisor at first tried to tell me I had to pay for the rotten apples. After realizing how many apples and pumpkins I was buying she quickly realized I had no reason to lie. The end experience definitely took away from my day out with the family.
Overall this place is decent but with better options available I won’t be back and I can’t recommend. Other places that are easily within driving distance offer petting zoos, mazes, better service and...
Read moreI came here on 9/18/21, with my daughter and niece, like every year we come here for apple/pumpkin picking. I’ve also introduced this place to a couple other family members, simply because it is a nice place to visit, I also love the location, and I love going to their market, for all the goodies sold here. They also sell these apple cidered donuts that are so delicious. Unfortunately, after my experience here on the 18th I will not be coming here again. Parents of colored kids, textured hair kids I warn you of coming here. My daughter and niece were touching the candies, and this older white lady with glasses, I wish I would have taken her name, came over to where my daughter and niece were, almost like pushing them out of the way, not physically touching them but on top of them she started fixing the candies and staring at them as if they were stealing. My daughter and niece than moved close to me, I asked them what was going on my daughter was clueless, because kids are so innocent and don’t realize these things. Anyways, I was paying and the lady than came to the register next to the young lady that was ringing me out, and she was starring at my daughter, niece and I. All while I spend $60+ in the market like I do every year I come here. I will say the 2 young ladies that had helped me at the register in the bakery area, and when last checking out were very pleasant. I however, will not come here again, due to that older lady, she made me feel uncomfortable as if we were doing something wrong, for this reason I will take my business...
Read moreIt is unfortunate how generally good place may be ruined by rude and unprofessional employees . I must say that I go to Battleview Orchards for years. I went there multiple times with my son, until he became of age when he doesn’t want to come with me anymore. Now I go there with my daughter. Today I came there was my wife and my mother-in-law. We purchased a lot of baked goods, fruits, and vegetables. They used to sell Apple cider by cups. They no longer have this service on weekdays. I purchased a gallon and asked a lady that works in a bakery section to spare a couple of cups. The plan was to take apple cider and baking goods outside, sit at the table and enjoy nice weather. I was told that there are no cups available. I clearly saw stacks of cups next to coffee pods. And ask the lady if I can buy a couple of empty cups. At which point I was lectured about how those particular cups were not for sale by itself, and only came with a purchase of coffee, and not available to be purchased to be used to drink apple cider that I have purchased from the same place. Strange logic. Even stranger, that I had to listen to a 30 seconds lecture on how I cannot clearly see which cups are for apple cider and which cups are for coffee. All of this was said with a smirk on employee’s face. Little things like that truly leave a bad taste in my mouth. Sometimes, businesses forget that the only reason they exist is because of us, their customers. Let this review serve as a reminder that we spend our hard earned money in this place not to be lectured...
