I am so glad that I followed my intuition this rainy afternoon and stopped by this little gem of a garden! I am an Airbnb host, artist, interior designer and bonsai lover who has only recently recognized the healing benefits of this ancient practice. When a "bonsai near me" search led me to Plant City Bonsai, I knew I would be stopping by to see these gorgeous miniature forests in person. But what I didn't expect was the enthusiastic welcome, free-for-the-asking education about anything my inquiring mind wanted to know, and gracious invitation to browse, enjoy and take my time wandering through this lush little paradise.
The first thing that caught my attention when I arrived was the massive bonsai evergreens that graced the entrance, as well as the calming sound of water from a Koi pond fed by handmade (I would assume) bamboo pipes. The effect was enchanting and compelled me to keep exploring. In less than an hour I had learned so much! Plus witnessed the delightful staff cheerily creating "plant art" in all kinds of fascinating varieties, sizes and price points. There is a lovely bonsai "pet" for literally every budget there. I have decided to pencil in a future class as well as leave their cards in my bnb for guests.
If you are looking for an excursion that will soothe, inspire and ignite the senses you simply must go to Plant City Bonsai. And if you happen to be a master gardener, you def need to put this place on your...
Read moreGreat people and beautiful bonsai trees! I became involved with Bonsai during 2020. As I continue to learn and developing my skill and artistic eye, I’ve discovered that Steve Cratty has been doing Bonsai for ~40 years. He has truly helped make Bonsai accessible for me, my family, and my friends. Steve and his wife Sandy are patient, kind, and bring practicality and affordability into the art of Bonsai. While Steve is extremely knowledgeable and adept to traditional Bonsai, he has been around Bonsai and is knowledgeable of many bonsai trends throughout the years (including more modernized forms of Bonsai). Also, he understands and leaves room for the customer/artist to embrace that fact that Bonsai is an Art with room for artistic interpretation of traditional rules. I highly suggest visiting Plant...
Read moreSteve and Sandy run a beautiful bonsai establishment. They are absolutely aglow with passion for bonsais and enthusiastic about sharing their passion with others. There are trees here in a variety of price ranges as well as experience levels. Steve is always willing to spend time talking with his customers one on one, whether they are new buyers or return customers in need of assistance with previous purchases they might be struggling with caring for. I’m planning on signing up for one of their great full day workshops that include a tree in the fee to take full advantage of the wealth of knowledge he has to offer and any chance to go back to this...
