Played in a tournament here 5/17/2025 course was nice. BEWARE OF BELONGINGS!!!
I pulled up to valet where they take your bag and give you little to no information. I go and park my car myself and walk back to my bag to put my water, lunch box, and speaker with my bag. At this point I was thinking I would be loading my cart which I typically do at all scrambles I play in.
We finish lunch it’s been able 45 minutes since I last seen my bag. We go to the bay course to find our carts and my cart was not loaded at all. No golf bag no lunch bag no water no speaker. I had to find someone to help me and asked for my stuff which I found odd. They bring my stuff over and my speaker wasn’t with it. I figured maybe I left it in my car. We finish the round after 4 1/2 hours I forget to check my car. I drive home over an hour and go to unload my stuff. At this point I realize my speaker is not in my car. So I call the course which was closed left a message which I was never called back on. I call again the following morning 5/22/25 at 9am. This is where the run around spit in the face starts. I am met on this call by a very rude older woman. Who blows me off and says we will check for it and I will get back to you. Just as I figured I would never be called back on this.
I drive back to the course over an hour in hopes by going in person would maybe give them a little push to locate my speaker. I walk into the pro shop I now get to meet the rude lady who answered my call and blew me off. Wanna guess what happens next ? I say hi I am the guy who called about the speaker she rudely again says oh ya the speaker. Not really to sure let me look as if she never did the first time. She then barely looks and says yeah go outside and talk to the guys in the blue shirts. She doesn’t even walk out with me or assist in anyway and continues to talk to the other workers behind the desk.
So I go outside and talk to a few guys this is where run around round 2 starts. I quickly realize there seems to be zero system in place for items they misplace or any item for that matter. I’m sure I am not the first nor the last person who lost an item or had an items misplaced by the staff there. After they scramble around and pretend to show effort they quickly give up take my number and push me away. This is my favorite I am then told by what seemed to be the manager for the caddies. “ What’s your name and number” I will ask all of my guys if they seen it and get back to you.” “It won’t be a top priority so definitely give me some time on it as you see we are busy.” The manager also later admits to me that I should have all of the guys in the tournament check their bags maybe one of the caddies stuffed it in another bags. Which I also found weird why are they going in anyone’s bags ? He then told me another story of how this happened to a member there and how the member was mad at them. As I have managed people before I’m sure they have a group chat of some sort he could’ve messaged in but hey who knows with this place. Didn’t seem like a place with many plans in place for anything.
If this were a $20 speaker I would’ve never called or drove an hour. It was a nice speaker that was over $120. I say beware because I am sure an employee is currently enjoying my speaker. I put it with my bag and it just so happens to be the only thing not brought over and seems to have grown legs and ran away.
It’s ashame I enjoyed the course but will not be going back here ever again. The level of customer service I received was pitiful to say the least.
Enjoy...
Read moreAVOID the 4.3 stars score! Some users are rating the the hotel and not the Golf Club or course specifically. Read the 1/2 star reviews - this is consistent with what is actually happening as SVGC.
PINES course - should be a 1.5, but based on my normal criteria for grading I had to go down.
QUALITY - VERY disappointing. I've played the Bay and Pines a few years ago and don't remember the conditions being this bad. Tee boxes were in very rough shape loaded with weeds and bare spots, edges of bunkers were not groomed and overgrown and there were many greens with bare spots (#3!), fairways were OK, but again not groomed and defined with spots of weeds and disease setting in.
VALUE - Dynamic pricing is what is killing this course. I wouldn't have a problem with the quality if it was a muni course or a highly played public inexpensive course, BUT for over $100 on a Thursday AM at a resort - these conditions were unacceptable. The course is only going to get worse with high prices and poor conditions, players are not going to replace their divots, rake the traps, or fix their ball marks. Which was all seen during our round.
STAFF and CUSTOMER Interaction - The staff seemed miserable, (it was an extremely hot and humid day so I kind of understood it), but the beverage cart driver was totally unresponsive and just grumpy despite the 3x our group bought something we tipped 25%. We weren't greeted by any staff until after we had been milling around the clubhouse, carts and putting green for almost 15 min, and only were addressed about 10 min from our tee time.
Difficult to recommend this experience at this price. Attention to detail is highly lacking, its mis-managed and there are many nicer courses in the area for the same price or less. Pinelands, Running Deer, Blue Heron Pines, Shore Gate, the list of finer courses in the...
Read moreI base my review off 5 categories: layout, price, difficulty, facilities, and staff.
The layout of the course was a bit interesting. I'm glad I played with a few members or else I wouldn't have known where shots needed to go. Narrow in a lot of areas where you can't miss too far left or right. Greens were fairly true, not too receptive but rolled well.
The price, personally, was way too high for this course. Paying $200 for a course that stretches 6200 from the tips is a little out there. I get the LPGA and the views of AC, but this course doesn't come close to the Ballyown, Wild Turkey, Architects, Neshanic, etc where you can play for 1/2 or 3/4 of the price.
The course is not difficult. There's a lot of tight shots and a few narrow greens but once you get away from the first couple holes, you can miss and still be ok. If you hit a long ball, it will be a driver/wedge every hole with no reason not to hit in 2 on the par 5's.
The facilities were on par with a mid range public course. Driving range was a cart ride away, hitting on grass which was nice. Allowed to chip onto the putting green was unique as well. The pro shop was clean and stocked up with their typical inventory. Nothing really negative to say about the facilities.
The staff were hit or miss. Being my first time playing here, I was confused about the whole shuttle my bags while I walk across the street rule. Wasn't told too much on how the process worked. Seems extremely weird to me.
Overall, I can check off the box saying I played the course, but I personally believe it is only ranked so high in the state due to its location. A lot of northern courses that are in the $80-100 range blow this place out...
