Gardner Golf Course — Local services in Gardner

First time experiencing the Gardner Golf Course. Weather was a bit chilly. Came away thinking it was better than expected. Club house was spacious, clean and attendant was friendly and helpful. Golf carts were fairly new and in good order and plenty of them. Course layout was okay and played a par 72 and average length. Most holes had some challenging aspects to them, either being dog legs, gentle hills or uneven greens that can make pin placements interesting. Course was very saturated due to recent rainfall but seemed to drain nicely. Not sure what happened to the other set of nine holes. It appeared to be a 18 hole course at some point. Greens were still maturing but rolled true. There were some areas that you couldn't put through. With time it would improve. Ball speed was a bit slow but could have been a correlation of weather related mowing issues. Piles of tree debree and old wooden structures needs to be cleaned up as well. Very well maintained golf course but if you under 30 don’t go here. The staff and other golfers have horrible attitudes towards young golfers like myself. Today I was shouted at by a manager in a very unprofessional manner threatening banning me from the course because some older gentlemen told them I was hitting while they were on the green when they already were on the next hole and out of the green in their golf carts, completely disregarding my side of the story. Even if your in the right young golfers, management will have bias toward the richer older folk who just want to bicker at young golfers. The city of Gardner and the previous owners let this place become so run down it was not playable in 2017. Now it is just ok. New management is in the process of installing new irrigation and putting some investment in this course. The greens still have some patchy areas but are playable. Most fairways are still in pretty bad shape but hopefully the new irrigation will solve the problem. Rennovation is in progress and the price to play is very cheap, so it is a decent value at the moment.
