Garfield Meats — Local services in Garfield

A friend sells me beef and hogs though Garfield Meats, and I distribute to family and friends. This year was my first year and I am not impressed. I have complained to my friend who raised the hogs, and she is trying to make it right. When I went to pick up the hogs, the entire process seemed disorganized and very unprofessional. Tom, the owner, did his best to help us. However, the majority of the meat was heat shrinked with holes in the plastic. Much of it was not marked or labeled. A family member ordered a loin roast, which he remembers telling the butcher over the phone specifically (he warned him about the size). He didnt get a loin roast, only loin chops. Also missing ribs, not a rib in the box. Of course, i foolishly didnt rip open the boxes when he brought them out of the freezer and make sure. I waited until I get home, an hour and half away. I complained to my friend about it, on behalf of family who got meat as well. I told her that they will not be going with Garfield any longer due to this service.

I hope they fix what is broken. The only thing from the hogs we have loved so far is the bacon. Thick cut and delicious. But I did have to re-wrap...

Garfield Meats is wonderful! Not only do the do a great job processing meat, but the are wonderful people too!

This was my first time dropping of some hogs to be processed and both of the owners were very patient and answered all of my questions. But we purchased a hog from some neighbors last year and had it processed by Garfield Meats. The bacon and ham that they cured (and smoked the bacon) as well as the sausages were all delicious!

I was also pleasantly surprised by how patiently they treated my stubborn hogs (Bacon, Pork Chop, and Black Forest) when they didn't want move out of our trailer.
