"Dream Vacations"? More like nightmare.
I want to start off by saying that the office you're required to go to to sign paperwork before getting access to your cabin is actually 40 minutes away from where you'll be staying, although that is mentioned NOWHERE on the website or confirmation emails. Half of my party drove 11 hours from Florida, and the other half 11 hours from Michigan. We got to the office before closing hours and everyone had already left for the day. Our paperwork was in a dropbox to sign. I don't know why I couldn't just sign the paperwork electronically and then been given access to the cabin day of, since someone texted me information about it anyway. After an extremely long day of driving it was frustrating having to drive almost another hour to the actual cabin, again, because this wasn't mentioned at any time. Upon arrival, one bedroom door wouldn't stay open, one wouldn't stay closed, and one bathroom door also would not stay closed. This was obviously a known issue because there was a large rock holding one bedroom door open when we got there. It seems a bit archaic to have to hold doors open/closed with rocks, especially because it was already a known issue to management. There's no light by the hot tub, so one member of our party jammed his toe into a metal hook protruding from the floor. His toe nail was literally ripped up and it caused severe swelling and his whole toe turned purple. There was also passive aggressive notices posted all around the cabin. You're required to wash and put away the dishes you use which requires you to rely on the guests before you, complete strangers, to properly clean everything... during a pandemic. We pulled out several plates and pots that had chunks of food stuck to them. Several lightbulbs were also out throughout the cabin. Upon departure we informed the company of all of these issues and then immediately received a nasty call from either a Monica or a Monique (hereafter referred to as "M"). We had explained that we didn't have service the entirety of our stay and rarely left the cabin because of COVID. When we did leave, it was after office hours and there was no phone in the cabin. M kept arguing that because she didn't believe us, and at one point even said she didn't want to keep being reminded about the pandemic, which explains the dishes in the cabin. She put all the blame onto us and wouldn't let us get two words in without cutting us off and arguing/yelling. She also sarcastically said she was sorry for our "negative experience between someone stubbing their toe and there being bugs." She completely ignored the severity of someone nearly breaking their toe due to the company's negligence, ignored several of our concerns, and blamed us for everything. That was the most disrespectful and rude conversation, if you could even call it that, I've ever had, ESPECIALLY with someone dealing with customer service. This is a horrible way to run a company and I will...
Read moreWe stayed at Applewood manor. The cabin itself was nice however not at all extravagant like portrayed in the pictures. Upon arrival the cabin was not ready at 4 and with 4 screaming kids after traveling that was an inconvenience but one that could be dealt with. When we finally were given the code and able to arrive at cabin we walked in to and awful smell. Apparently the owner had been there staying before us and had a dog (the house is not pet friendly) and there was dog hair on everything!! Sofas, rugs, floors, on the stove in the microwave and in the beds. The counters were filthy. The bathrooms had dead bugs everywhere and the floors were sticky. It didn't look like it had been cleaned at all!! So after traveling for 2 days with 4 kids our family couldn't even unpack our cars it was so bad!! We called the front office and had the wonderful pleasure of speaking with DONNA (note lots of sarcasm) who proceeded to tell us pretty much that we were crazy and there is no way her cleaners or the owner would leave it looking like we were discribing. She was the most hateful and rude person my husband or myself have ever spoken with. She sent her cleaners out here and after 10 minutes the cleaning lady called and tried to persuade her to move us to another cabin which was available which they said they could not do. So after 2 hours of stripping every comforter pillow and rug and doing a quick clean we were able to bring our luggage in. The owner Shannon called me and in very nice way told us all they could do was clean it again. Then the wonderful ms. DONNA (note sarcasm again) calls back and very rudely tells me that she wasn't rude and that I didn't need to tell the owner Shannon that she was. Needless to say this woman is a piece of work and should under no circumstances be answering the phone for a business in customer service!! So at almost 11 that night they finally return with new pillows and comforters so that we can put our kids to bed on clean sheets!! They left dirty rugs and pillows on the porch by the door all week. And never heard another word about the discount we asked about for the 7 hours of that $600 night that we paid for that we had to deal with this screw up!! Never had a broom dustpan or vacuum to help keep the place clean. After paying almost $3000 for a 5 night stay I feel seriously ripped off. This company is a joke!! It would be in your best interest to look elsewhere and spare yourself the awful experience they call DONNA and the company smoky mountain...
Read moreWe stayed at "Majestic Springs Lodge". When we arrived at the office to check in, there was no one there. They left all our paperwork and directions to the cabin in a box outside the office. This company won't tell you where your cabin is located until you arrive for "security purposes" which I can come to understand. Although they could at least warn you that there is a chance you will be taking dangerous, one lane roads to the tops of mountains 30 minutes from town. Our first night at the cabin we quickly realized that there was a problem with the plumbing. The sinks took over 10 minutes to drain completely, the water pressure in all the showers was ridiculously poor, the toilet in the pool room wouldn't flush correctly, the bathtub took over an hour to fill up completely, and if you tried to run water in more than 2 places at once, nothing else would work. We were washing dishes downstairs while someone else was taking a shower upstairs, then when we went to turn on another shower the faucet dripped. Seriously, just dripped cold water. On our second night, while everyone was sleeping, my parents bed broke. The wood underneath just snapped and the mattress fell to the ground. When we called to let them know, we were told someone would be up to fix it but it wouldn't be until after July 4th so to just pick up the wood and place the mattress on the floor (We stayed from July 1st through the 7th. This happened on the 2nd). No one ever came to fix it our entire stay, so my mother, 8 months pregnant at the time, had to sleep on a mattress on the floor. There were bugs in the bathtubs, and cockroaches in the pool cover. The grass in the backyard was severely overgrown, even if the kids wanted to play there, they wouldn't have been able to. They expected us to keep the house clean while we were there but only had a broom, no dustpan or any other cleaning supplies. Overall, we had a horrible experience with Smoky Mountain Dream Vacations and will not be going through their...
