In the 13 years I've been driving in Sussex County, I've never really had any issues with the DMV until now. Such a terrible decline in policy and general treatment of customers lately. I purchased an older truck, 2006, went through the inspection lane and passed no problem. They commented that the VIN/GVWR sticker was missing from the door jamb. Old truck, became weathered and fell off at some point prior to me owning it. Clean title, VIN present in other locations, no issues other than the GVWR sticker missing. Not a huge deal, right? Wrong. They absolutely refused to title and register the truck until I wasted $450 to have a GVWR certification done. Bear in mind, this is a privately-owned 2500 pickup. Not commercial, GVWR is also well under 26,000 pounds. Fine. I get to looking, and Delaware code 2105 states that a manufacturer statement or other new vehicle delivery documents will suffice. Awesome. I reach out to Dodge customer service, they directed me to a local dealership for the matter. I was able to have a local CDJR dealership print off a VIN report that included all factory options codes and listed the GVWR. No charge, either. Home run! Nope. DMV refuses to accept it. I wanted to freakin' SCREAM at them. Supervisor seemed to only know how to say "Sir there are rules we have to follow" RIGHT! I'm following the rules! I'm going by the book! 3 times I showed her the Delaware code on this matter. She realized she was incorrect, and in looking for anything she could to send me away, she said "This is from a dealer, not the manufacturer" Wrong again, supervisor lady! The VIN report listed both the dealership it was printed off by, as well as "FCA US LLC" (Chrysler) and yet she still refused to accept it. I was getting to the point of losing my patience, but I remained cordial. I asked why she was battling me so hard on this. She back-pedaled and said she would "fax the papers to Dover to see if they'll approve it" - Of course they approved it after that. I couldn't believe all of this over a missing sticker on an old truck. It's a mass produced pickup and the GVWR can be found in 30 seconds on a Google search. You'd think I had personally offended these people somehow. Otherwise, this was a HUGE oversight on following/understanding proper Delaware code. Beyond stubborn and unwilling to step back and think, hey, maybe this guy knows better than me in this particular instance! He's done his research!...

Read moreCustomer service and wait times were complete TRASH on a Wednesday night. Sat for an hour and a half, got called and assisted by Alisha. I had to email her paperwork to complete my transaction, I sent it and waited for 2-3 minutes while she typed on the computer. I had to ask her did she receive it, she said no. I verified her email and sent it again, she typed again while I waited and I had to ask yet again if she received it she said no. She said take a seat and I’ll call you when I get it. She then assisted someone else, put her coat on, and left! I went to the front desk and asked for help or an explanation as I know it’s PACKED and my number won’t be called again. The lady at the desk said “we are entitled to breaks she probably went on one you’ll have to wait until she gets back”. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE for having been there TWO HOURS at this point! I go to another lady in the same area and ask and she said she can’t help me. Wow. Finally, I ask Lena for assistance and she gives me her email to send my documents and she has it in less than 5 minutes (I guess my emails to Alisha got lost in cyber space, she didn’t really seem too concerned about helping me anyway). Lena went above and beyond to get me squared away! If it wasn’t for her I would’ve still been there preparing to turn in for the night. Lack of customer service was at an all time high! I asked TWO people before Lena! I’ll go to Dover...
