This museum has so much memorabilia about the African American experience. Drs. Alvin and Gayle Jackson and many others have preserved this heritage by investing in the preservation of so many artifacts that tell the story of Willow Hill. Amazingly the acquisition of this school started with a young lady, Alvin and Gayle's daughter, Nkenge Jackson, now known as Dr. Nkenge Jackson. Nkenge grew up with history of Willow Hill embodied in her soul. Her father told her about the freed slaves who built a school for their children to become educated with the best the freed slaves had to offer. Inspired with this knowledge, Nkenge created and won a National Award while in high school for project that is presently on display at Willow Hill.
