I had an amazing time at H. Roe bartle scout reservation with my troop. It was the best camping experience I ever had. The reservation is huge and beautiful, with plenty of activities to choose from. We stayed for ten days and we never got bored.
The staff was friendly and professional, and the merit badge counselors were knowledgeable and helpful. I earned several merit badges, including environmental science, canoeing, wilderness survival, and metalwork. I learned a lot of new skills and had fun at the same time.
The outpost programs were awesome. We did the cliff hanger, the cowboy action, the cave exploration, and the zip lining. They were all thrilling and challenging, and we got to enjoy a dutch oven meal after each one. The escape rooms were also very cool and creative.
The highlight of the camp was the Mic-o-say program. It was a great way to learn about leadership, service, and honor. I was impressed by the ceremonies, the traditions, and the costumes. I felt proud to be part of this unique brotherhood.
H. Roe bartle scout reservation is a gem that every Scout should visit at least once in their life. It is a place where you can grow as a person, make new friends, and have unforgettable memories. I can't wait to go...
Read moreI had returned back to Bartle a few weeks ago after being gone almost 32 years and started to cry. I was lucky to be raised in Scouting within my family and all my neighbors Sons and their Fathers were all in the Mic O Say as well. As, I walked through Camp Lone Star I knew the Camp when it was called Wigwam. I worked the Mic O Say 50th Anniversary as a Brave. I counted my first coup for doing that. I first returned to She She Bee were I remember Louie Chandler there with me as a Medicine Man when I was just a called Brave. Walking the paint trail with my wife. I realized how lucky to be able to attend Bartle. It is true the Inner Circle has never been broken in this life or the next. For me those men tribesmen in my life who have gone live in our memories. I never deserved to be around those men. I can live 100 life times and never give what those tribesmen gave to me. Firebuilder Warshield, Joe Pinzon. Troop 25, Mohawk district,...
Read moreAs a member of Troop 62, I spent many summers at Camp Osceola. The camp expanded to 2 adjacent camps and was named the H Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation in memory of the man who lead Scouting in Kansas City. Chief Bartle, formed Mic O Say, a key element of our Scouting experience. As I progressed from Fox Man, Brave and Warrior during my camping experience, I like others on the path, experienced silence, isolated overnight sleeping in the wilderness, speaking Indian Sign Language, constructing Indian garb, tribal campfires, and special commitments. Camping experiences with the Indian experience helped form our belief and commitment to serving others. The combined experience helped build strong ideals in us, young men. Many thanks to the adults who lead and served us, Jim Laneu our Scoutmaster, Howard Kipfer our Neighborhood Commissioner, Luman Parrot our Scoutmaster for Philmont, and the summer...
