I purchased a gift card for my fiancĆ© for Valentine's Day, $100, thinking that he could get 2 sessions out of it, based on the prices shown online, or very close to. Sadly, he got barely 1 game out of it. He took my father with him as a new customer to check out the course(he paid for himself) and also took our 7 year old son who came along to just watch Grandpa and Dad golf. Unbelievably, they charged him around $15.00 just to sit and watch(āSpectator Feeā) , we donāt know exactly what the fee was seeing how they did not give him a receipt, but based on our calculations of what he paid and what he got back the $15 seems correct. He returned from what was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable golf session with just barely $20 of the $100 gift card and very upset with how he was nitpicked over every charge and that for it to be so expensive not the best service or course. My fiancĆ© is an experienced golfer, who travels for work and has been to golf courses all over the United States and has never heard of a āSpectators Feeā and prices that didnāt match the course or service. He was thankful to me for the gift but will never be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have played Horseshoe quite a few times since I started golfing two years ago. Sadly, after today, I won't be returning. We showed up to play and noted a plethora of political statements taped on the inside of the window where you pay. It upset me, not because of their political stance, just that I go golfing to escape the cares of the world. I, personally, didn't appreciate being bombarded with politics while I'm showing up to go relax. I mentioned it to one of the owners as we were leaving and she suggested I have someone else pay so I wouldn't have to see them. I tried to explain that her political persuasion wasn't my point (for all she knows, we're of the same mind), but I couldn't hardly finish my thought because she started talking over me. She ended the conversation by stating "It's OK (hand gesture of š) with me if you don't want support a fellow American with different political views than yours". I just smiled, said thank you, and left. For good. Between that and Porta Potty's as the only option for a restroom because they don't allow anyone inside, there are plenty of other beautiful courses in...
Ā Ā Ā Read more$50 for 18 holes. is such a stretch on any course anymore. Let's not discuss Trophy Lake 5 minutes away being much better course, or McCormick Woods being 10 minutes away and much tighter course. There's this dump up the road called Gold Mountain - Olympic...that hosts USGA national events with aspiring pro golfers, or at least elite golfers for their age groups. The cost? $50 on Golf Now. How they can even charge that at HL is beyond me. Had discussion with an employee once and she had a whole bunch of excuses on how they are busy all the time. We had this discussion near the parking lot with all 5 cars within ear shot. I was there on a 2 for 1 on line coupon from a 3rd party vendor otherwise I have stopped playing this course about 3 years ago. It is a fun course to play, but it's not worth $50.If they lowered their price to $20-30 they'd have to beat people away with sticks. For $50 though....go and play anytime you want without the crowds. The crowds are playing the better courses for less money. Last heavy play from me was their $100/4 rounds deal in winter of 2012 I think it was. Please lower...
