Hereโs a beautiful, well maintained sports complex park open to the public! Not only are sporting events held here, the park is also a picturesque setting for fitness walks, jogging and hiking. A large parking lot may be shared by a couple of different game participants and attendees at once, as well as with trail bike riders and hikers. A smaller lot continues between ballfields, ending with a turnaround. The structure located by the turnaround contains the park office, built-in venders stands and public restrooms. An adjoining covered area of picnic tables provides shade for individuals and groups together. Natural dirt trailheads surround the park and are often accompanied by outdoor fitness equipment and more isolated picnic tables. The fields are on level ground, surrounded within a bowl of Hills and a background of Verdugo Mountains. Thereโs a ton of easy parking, the fields are kept in reasonably good shape, and free space to roam is plentiful between the fields. The only downsides: the activities building has plenty of spaces apparently set up for concession use, but none of them have ever been open. I might even mention the soccer fields are painted for lacrosse, which by the way is a welcome sight for this fast growing sport. However in this review I want to mention that the city of Glendale has developed some fun hiking trails. The trails tend to be easy to traverse and you often see the locals with their dogs on leash (of course) going up and down the trails.
Hidden in plain sight is a fun outdoor fitness area with passive resistance machines that use your own body weight to strengthen yourself. Iโm also impressed that these machines are accessible to those in wheel chairs, promoting a healthy lifestyle for everyone!
The parking is plentiful and best...
