TRAIL INFO —Great local place to hike! Lots of trails to choose from on both North and South (the one with towers). Mountain Road has parking for trails that go to both sides. —North Uncanoonuc has 3 main trails; white dot (steepest), red dot (less steep than white dot), and blue dot (least steep). There are some other trails that aren’t named or marked that go to summit as well but the three main ones are marked. —Parking on the same road has trails up to the South Uncanoonuc. The main one from this side is the Link Trail. This trail has blue dots and connects to the Summit trail, which continues up and does a loop around the summit with various lookouts. The other trail off this way is the Kenlaw trail, which is less steep as it zigzags up the mountain. There are other trails from here that aren’t marked or named. The other major parking area is on Mountain Base Road. There’s a parking area, little recreation area/beach at the pond. From here there’s the Bickford trail (does not go to summit), Summit trail (connects to link trail), and Incline trail (steepest and goes straight up mountain). There are other unmarked and unamed trails from this way. —Great place to hike in the area, South Uncanoonuc has the most views, North Uncanoonuc is less busy as South also has road to top. I recommend getting the AllTrails app to help with navigation as some trails aren’t...
Read moreI took the White Dot to Blue Trail loop today. The total mileage was 2.4 miles. The trails are currently hard-packed snow with some icy spots. I had micro spikes on, and they were very manageable. However, with current conditions, I would not advise doing White Dot without spikes.
Both trails are well-labeled with blazers, so finding your way is easy. Overall, this is a nice loop, especially for the area!
