THE FIRST Bad Location and person I've meet on my first trip through ALL of Route 66! I has was with my cousin moving my things from Albuquerque, New Mexico (City on Route 66) and had a "u-haul" trailer with my stuff going to California and the "Owner" or grumpy old employee came out annoyed that we were taking pictures with the pumps. We weren't being rude, or "obnoxious young people" but kind with someone else's great Route 66 Business. And we Get "What are you doing!?!"
-"Oh, we are taking pictures with you pumps sir as if we were "filling up" on gas. And I was explaining Route 66 and your location to my Cousin Jr because we've been driving through Route 66 for awhile and this is his first time on the good road, and me many." Then the upset person said "We aren't open yet!" (Slams the door) I support Route 66 because I understand what happen to the Route, love how Nice people USUALLY are because people on the "Mother Road" show what America USE to be but isn't anymore, and that's Helpful, Caring, Small Business, Informed, patriotic, supportive of troops, God Honoring. He lived there a good part of his life and he really loved Cool Springs .He was the one that kept Cool Springs beautiful. It looks nothing like it did when he lived there. Just the front has some resemblance . I'm very sad that there is nothing of my mom, who owned it first. then she meant my dad in 1936, and they got married . I was born in1940. I have so many happy memories there with my dad.. my dad lived there from 1936 till the 60's, he then sold to his cousin, within a couple of years it burned to the ground. No one took care of Cool Springs like my dad. It is just a tourist thing now. No real history. I'm sure the caretakers are doing a wonderful job, but they really don't know much about the true history of CoolSprings. They only know what they've been told. For me, this is a really sad thing. There use to be pictures of my brother, who was killed in WWII. They're no longer there.. JW.....

The trip here makes you take your time on the historic Route 66. It transports you!!
The views are spectacular! The shop sits atop the edge of a ravine that overlooks a mountain scape that takes your breath away.
The shop is everything! The perfect route 66 stop. It has all the necessities and all the tourist needs and wants. Plus, unique gifts, crystals, rocks, and super cool scrap metal art.
If you're lucky, you'll get to meet the owners' sweet kitties, Junior was super cuddly and loved on us the whole time we were there.
Again, it is worth the stop. It has a place in my heart forever.
You will lose cell service until after you pass through Oatman (the next stop that you can not miss after...
