*Thank you for the response and explanation Rob. I appreciate it. I will give your shop another try but when I do, I hope that I can receive a more welcoming approach and not have to wait for such a long time to receive service. Thank you!
I had a good first experience here awhile back. The owner of the shop seemed cool. Today, I went to Ultimate in Hopkins and had my usual 5 Star experience. After, I figured I'd head up here to dig through some vintage which this store is supposedly known for. I walked in with an older guy. The owner said hello to him but ignored me. Not welcoming and I know the owner. Then, I sat there for 20 minutes and didn't get asked if I needed help. So, I flagged down the other person working and he helped me and was cool. I asked to see some vintage (there really isn't a ton of vintage of high quality in this shop) and the worker said he needed to wait for the owner to get it. The owner said, "I'll get it but I'm busy right now." Mind you, there were three adult and too child customers and two people working. Overall, I would rate today's customer service as below average. I also think, given the condition of the vintage, they're over priced. Two stars for today unless I hear back from the owner on why he ignored me and basically said you're not important right now. As person of color / indigenous, I did not feel welcome here the second time around; that's disappointing because I know they can do better and do better, just for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI buy (and occasionally sell) cards online mostly, but I like to go to a local card shop for storage supplies. As has been mentioned in other reviews here, this shop has an excellent stock of supplies. Also, I ended up purchasing some fun things that I didn't expect: some vintage wax from the 1980s and 1990s. I took a shot at a pack each of '86 football and '84 football (no "hits" but worth a shot), and they also have a selection of old wax boxes from the "junk wax" era at pretty low prices. I really enjoyed busting a couple of these cheap boxes from the era when I first started collecting, and I never buy them online, as they're not worth it to ship. The owners were more than friendly enough--if anything they were overly hospitable. I remember turning down their repeated offers of a bottle of water. I didn't want to be standoffish, but I'm not keen on having an open water around so much inventory that is condition sensitive and vulnerable to water damage. That's just me being overly careful. My visits were actually a long while ago and I just looked this place up again with the hope that they're still there, as I need some more supplies. Glad to see they're still around! Time to pay them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited today with my father and son... good selection, and helpful guys working, but with anything, buyer beware. Right away my father spotted two different Ted Williams/Joe DiMaggio autographed photos that were very obvious fakes. I made an impulse purchase of a 1977 Topps wax pack that I was told was sealed. The person working said "I put it in the plastic vault myself." I removed the wax pack from the vault to open it and noticed immediately that the wax pack had already been opened. Inside the wax pack were 9 cards of players I'd never heard of. There was a loose piece of gum inside the pack. I can live with the possibility that the seal on the pack had deteriorated with time, and I can deal with the odds of getting a pack of baseball cards without a single known player in it... what I have the most trouble swallowing is why this supposed "unopened" pack only had 9 cards in it...1977 Topps wax packs came with 10 cards. I highly doubt I'll be going back. Experiences like this are what sours so many people on collecting this stuff...nobody likes getting royally screwed out of...
